Name: Eloise Victoria Midgen.
Blood Status: Halfblood.
Age/Birthday: 16/July 18, 1981.
House/Year: 6th year Hufflepuff.
Classes: Charms, Herbology, History of Magic, Muggle Studies, Transfiguration.
Sexuality: Homosexual.
Appearance: Eloise describes herself as plain, with no outstanding features which her peers or elders compliment her on. Her mouth is soft and easily fits into a smile, and Eloise's eyebrows have a tendency to betray the rest of her face by revealing her true emotions. Eloise's chocolate brown hair is thick and slightly wavy, which likes to frizz up in humid temperatures, but is very compliant otherwise. After four humiliating years of severe acne, Eloise's face has cleared up, partly due to her hormones finally coming in balance and partly thanks to a salve given to her by Madam Pomfrey. Standing at five feet, four inches, Eloise is an average girl. Average height, average weight, average everything.
PB: Emily Browning.

History: Eloise Victoria Midgen is the first and only child of Christopher Midgen and Harriet Kingston. Eloise didn't have the easiest childhood, but when anyone asks her of it, she always says she made due with what she was given. What she was give was a mother with a commitment problem who ran out a year after Eloise was a born and a father who didn't know what to do with himself after she left. Eloise grew up knowing every aspect of her mother, even though she never had an opportunity to remember her. Every photo Christopher had of Harriet was framed and placed around their small flat. Every weekend since she was old enough to put herself to sleep, Eloise would first have to send her drunkenly despondent father to bed, listening to stories of her mother as she washed his face and handed him his toothbrush. It was during these nights that Eloise learned that Harriet was a dancer, and to her father was the most beautiful, graceful woman on the planet whose laugh was like wind chimes and whose hair shone with an inner fire.

Even though Eloise lived and attended primary school in muggle Manchester, the fact that she had magical heritage was secret to her. Christopher's father and grandfather had both been wizards before him. But instead of celebrating this talent, it was cursed by Christopher as the reason Harriet probably left the two of them. Magic of any kind was forbidden, and all ties between Christopher and the magical world were severed. As she grew up Eloise was confused as to why she shouldn't be thrilled beyond belief to be able to do things out of fairy tales, but eventually stopped fighting her father's orders and stopped intentionally using her magic, sometimes even forgetting that there was anything beyond the muggle world that she lived in.

That all changed one day shortly after Eloise's 11th birthday when she received an owl revealing her acceptance to Hogwarts. Excitement, dread and confusion swirled around in Eloise as she thought about what this would mean for her and her father. When she told Christopher that she had been accepted to Hogwarts, her father immediately told her that she was not allowed to go. He said that Eloise had to accept the normal muggle life that had been placed in front of her, as it was real life, and that she should stay firmly grounded in reality, rather than spending her teenage years off in a dream world with hopes and fairy wishes that would be crushed as soon as she returned home. Eloise angrily shot back that he was a hypocrite for saying that; that he has spent the last ten years in denial that Eloise's mother was gone and was never coming back. That he had a responsibility to care for his daughter, instead of the other way around. And that even if she didn't get to live out her dreams, an education from Hogwarts would at least give her a better chance in life. Christopher looked at her in shock with his mouth wide open, and Eloise blushed violently, running to her room and refusing to come out for the rest of the night, humiliated that she had yelled at her father like that. Finally coming out around two in the morning to clean up whatever had been dirtied and probably help her drunken father off of the sofa and to his bed, Eloise was surprised to find all of the lights were still on, and her father sitting at the kitchen table, holding her acceptance letter to Hogwarts in his hands, staring off at nothing.

That August, the two nervously made the train trip from their small apartment in Manchester to London to get Eloise's school supplies. Eloise was as unsure about going off to a strange school filled with people she didn't know, but knew that after her outburst earlier in the summer, she absolutely had to go and things would never be the same between her and her father.

A week after purchasing her supplies, Eloise was on her way to Hogwarts. Everything about her new school terrified Eloise. The bear-like Hagrid terrified her, the silent boat ride across the lake terrified her and the sheer size of the school terrified her. Eloise was used to small things. Small flats, small schools, small world. Everything here was so large and unfamiliar. Even way voices echoed off of the walls of the great hall startled her. She barely ate any dinner that night and instead listened to the conversations around her while idly stirring her potatoes with a fork. Everything that came out of the older students' mouths sounded so interesting! After the first few days in this strange school, Eloise began making friends and not getting lost while trying to reach her classes. After a month, Eloise went from being completely terrified of Hogwarts to completely enamoured with the school and the people in it.

Being such a naturally unobtrusive person, Eloise has spent most of her time at Hogwarts quietly on the sidelines. Unfortunately Eloise has gained some unwelcome notoriety due to her troublesome acne. Unable to handle the amount of ridicule she received from certain people who thought they were better than her along with her own dismay at her appearance, Eloise tried to solve the problem herself in her third year. What happened became living history. After one poorly-aimed curse, Eloise became Midgen the Noseless Wonder. Three years later, thanks to a rigorous cleansing treatment and a general calming of her hormones, Eloise's face has cleared.
Always one to stay under the radar, Eloise has desperately tried to keep her head down in recent years, keeping out of the line of fire of both the Voldemort supporters and dissenters. Not quite confident enough to be a Switzerland (publicly neutral), Eloise just did everything in her power to remain off of everyone's radar. Even with her father actively trying to avoid all news of the magical world, he had heard enough whispers and rumours by the beginning of Eloise's fifth year that he decided she would be safer back home. Not realizing that Hogwarts had become more of a home to Eloise than the flat ever was, Christopher was shocked when Eloise sunk into a depression once returning home and beginning muggle schooling. After several months of receiving either the silent treatment or numb conversation, Christopher stopped worrying about his pride and wrote to Albus Dumbledore, asking the headmaster if Eloise could take her OWLs and continue on with her final two years at his school. A deal between Dumbledore, Christopher Midgen and the Wizarding Examinations Authority was struck shortly before the Death Eater attack on Hogwarts. Completely in shock at what had just happened to her school's headmaster, Eloise was not sure if she even wanted to continue. But after seeing how her father had sacrificed his pride to see that she was happy and thinking about how much she needed to see (and keep) her freinds safe, Eloise made a promise to herself to finish her last two years of school.

After taking her OWLs in a special summer examination, Eloise is about to start her sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; her first year without Albus Dumbledore.

Personality: Eloise is the "mother hen" of the Hufflepuff roost, spending all of her time trying to help and encourage the others in her house. Even at a fresh-faced eleven years old, her pink face scrubbed clean and the last of her teeth growing back in, Eloise was thought of by her neighbours as a mother without children. Her maternal and caring personality had been greatly influenced by her own mother walking out on Eloise and her father at a very young age. Her stunned father was absolutely no help around the house, so Eloise slowly started doing more and more to take care of him and their home as she got older. Her need to care for and encourage started with her father and continued on with her housemates.

Eloise thinks of others' well-being first because she sees no traits worthy of nurturing in herself. Every time she has tried to improve herself physically or internally, it has always ended badly. Eloise decided once and for all that she would focus on others in her third year when she accidentally hexed her nose off in a fit of desperation to clear her face of a particularly nasty acne breakout.

When it comes to doing something for herself, Eloise will agonize over whether it really needs to be done, or if she is just being frivolous. Alternately, Eloise won't hesitate doing anything for her friends. She would probably assist them in a robbery if they gave her a logical reason for their actions. But just because Eloise will do anything for her friends does not make her a stupid, no-brained follower. Eloise is very moral, and has a strict internal sense of 'right' and 'wrong'.

In the past Eloise had been very timid and hardly worked up the courage to talk to anyone outside of her house. She was perfect bait for the Slytherins and has been known to have been their object of ridicule several times. As she's grown up, Eloise has started to find her own voice, and now tries to be friendly with students in other houses along with making her own opinions and feelings known. While her confidence has not increased by leaps and bounds, Eloise quietly makes sure her opinion is known on issues important to her.

Questions (To be answered briefly and completely, in about 100 words.)
What does your character think of the current situation at Hogwarts, especially the Carrows? After spending the majority of last year stuck in muggle Manchester, being back at Hogwarts is like being wrapped in a comfortable old blanket to Eloise. Of course, with the addition of the Carrows that blanket has changed from a soft, cosy knit to a harsh, scratchy wool. The security and shelter of the school itself is still there, but there is a general uneasy haze over everything. Eloise never knows what they’re going to do next. She has survived their regime fairly unscathed so far, but is afraid of the day they lose patience with her.
What's your character's deepest, darkest secret? Who might know this? Eloise has only had one (very unsuccessful) relationship, and over the summer has come to the realization that is is probably a lesbian. She is absolutely mortified that someone will find out, and goes to bed every night wishing that it is just a phase she is going through. She doesn't think that alternate sexualities are wrong, but she simply doesn't need another thing for the bullies at school to tease her with.
Describe your character's Sorting. What about them caused them to go in their house? Too timid to be sorted into Gryffindor, too courteous of other people’s feelings and goals for Slytherin, and not quick enough for Ravenclaw, the Sorting Hat had nowhere but Hufflepuff to house Eloise. This isn’t to say that she doesn’t fit into Hufflepuff; Eloise is as loyal as they come, holding all of her friends on high pedestals. And while she isn’t the smartest Hufflepuff, Eloise is a very dependable and diligent student, always turning her work in complete and on time, if not entirely correct.
