Gateway and Acer suck. We've had a brand new Gateway for about 60 days, and have yet to see it boot directly to Windows. Gateway's solution? Send it back, over and over again, and then they return it ... unrepaired

Dude, I've known Gateway sucked for about a decade, the last time I had to troubleshoot one, the damned thing was running Windows Millenium Edition, MILLENIUM!!! and also the tech support and drivers were shit...
Also, Acer? where the hell has the school been shopping, Fry's? Microcenter?
go for Lenovo, they went from being cheap to buying out chunks of IBM and making the new ThinkPad

I'm thinking of a new computer... you heard my video card went to shit, right?
It's just starting to get tired... and big... and loud...
Also, I signed up for Netflix - any suggestions on movies I wouldn't have heard about otherwise?
Also - go listen to Jesse Cook. See if you can find the song Cafe Mocha, Matisse the Cat, or It Ain't Me Babe. I promise they're good. (But search in that order :) )

I bought a Dell at Best Buy and am very happy with it. I'm even happy with Vista, which can be tamed, and which runs really fast, at least on this machine. I have a shitpot full of RAM, which helps. Still only $800.
Movies: Lives of Others, In Bruges and Grizzly Man (or anything by Werner Hertzog). I'll look up the music. Didn't sleep last night and am in a rotten mood, not a good thing for music.
