so my catering manager here at Red Lion hotel knew that I was in the process of getting married, and looking for a way to support my family, but wasn't looking forward to doing it with the hotel... so he gave me word of a Merchandising manager job at Old Navy that he said I'd be perfect for, and said that it'd probably pay about 25 grand a year, ( Read more... )

DON'T STRESS ABOUT YOUR WEDDING! There are plenty of things you can do to cut costs. One of the big things is to think of everyone you know, and how they can help you. Connections will get you free stuff. For my wedding the rental suits, cake, music, food, & photography were all free. (Aaron knows a lot of people)People love to help out with weddings. I got 4 dresses, including my own, for about $150 (clearance at JC Penny- my dress had a small rip in the seam so it was marked way down, and yet another friend of Aarons fixed it and altered it for me) & they were all gorgeous. Tell Suni to check out clearanced prom dresses to use as bridesmaid dresses ( ... )

well, my aunt is a seamstress... she can hand sew better than most expensive machines can do it... My youth pastor growing up got ordained, and is going to do our wedding, and I wanna give him at least 50 bucks... he'd be coming out to do it anyways if he weren't officiating... the way things are looking, we're only going to have a flowergirl, best man, and maid of honor, the chef here at the hotel said he'd do the cake (I'm thinking 75 bucks) If i stay on part time here at the hotel then I'll get cheap (maybe free) rooms for the honeymoon, my friend ryan just got his photogaphryeierie degree, and said he'd be pretty cheap (not free, but he didn't know how much) but his cost would be materials and what not ( ... )

good luck with getting your job. i know how hard that is, finding a job to support people, let alone yourself, on. it stinks pretty bad sometimes, but hang in there!!

and, yes, there are lots of ways around an expensive wedding. so many of the traditions are so idiotic, at least in my mind. hahaha, if i ever get married it will be the most casual thing in the world.
