Helloooooooooooooooooo Adstringendumnites! Adstringendumers? Whatever we're all being called at the moment - has anyone ever really come up with a word for the people here? If not, I'd like to recommend Adstringites, it has a certain ring to it...

Anyway! I was wondering; this is a network full of communications and filters and wonderful ( Read more... )

It's you.

Is there really stuff flying over our heads and stuff?

It's me!

Actually, there is. Communicators always tend to work that way. When you speak and transmit a message into these PCD's it automatically seems to send it out to the Network. Meaning, of course, every word you utter, every pixel shifting in the image of your face is being flung out into the air, wrapped up in little, tiny, invisible bundles of codes and numbers. Another PCD will pick up these parcels of code and unwrap them, processing and fitting them back together to form the image or sound you only just uttered.

You can't see them, of course, but the air is practically completely full of it no matter where you go. Every single thing that has ever been transmitted, bouncing around from device to device to device. It's rather extraordinary.

[Okay, so you have officially baffled Naruto-- It's incredibly difficult to focus on what he's being told... but at least manages to pick up on something. Apparently.]

So-- bits of our PCDs like-- fly into others?

[He lifts his own up a little, shaking it.]

Wow.

[... Well he certainly had never thought of it that way, but...]

Yes! Exactly! They simply pick up, pack their bags, and zip on through the air until they can land and nest in someone else's. Completely invisible, of course. But bits and pieces are flying here and there, buzzing about like flies on a hot day.

[He grins, watching the shaking]

Yes wow, very much wow. Technology can be rather brilliant if you only have the patience to sit and unravel just exactly how it works.

Fuck no! Why would someone let you do that on purpose?

Now, now! There's really no need for such language...

And I assure you there's absolutely no harm in it, I simply need to know how these devices work, in case someone attempts to plan some sort of horrible plot behind a simple filter.

People keep saying that, but this is how I always talk!

What sort of horrible plots are you looking for?

Perhaps there's a need for self censorship... I always say, there's no need to swear when there are millions of other suitable words out there!

[He's grinning, not too upset about it, at least. You live a few hundred years, traveling through time and space, you get used to all the swearing out there.]

Oh, the usual. Murder, horror, kidnapping- anything and everything anyone might happen to be planning.

Not yet!

But Rory. Rory, Rory, Rory. [He's grinning, and he really should be hunting him down and having this chat in person, but he's pretty damn confident in his locking skills over the Network.] Keeping secrets is never easy, especially from Amy. I would know, as you know, too. You and I are from almost the exact same point in time, after all...

It seems timelines aren't as linear in this place, and memories don't follow us from our time here back into our world, should we ever manage to escape back.

Telling Amy about Melody, then. I leave that decision entirely up to you. But there is a ninety nine percent chance it won't cause a complete temporal collapse if you do.

[Oh shush your face, Amy]

Yes! Have you seen them? It takes some work to find the ones with actual omelets inside, but well worth the trouble, in most cases.

[There's a.... long.......... bit of silence from his end. As he does his best to look anything but sheepish.]
