when i was in new york i was reading the "dos & don'ts" section of vice magazine and came across something funny. it was a picture of a girl at an airport with a rainbow patch on her backpack (along with the phrase "sexuality is god's greatest gift"), wearing PINK FLOYD PAJAMA PANTS. the caption called her a "first-year carpet muncher ( Read more... )

If they were LUGs (lesbians until graduation) instead of being "first-year carpet munchers", I'd ask if you were going to my school. But then again, your weird kids are apparently cooler than ours were -- the "weird" ones here would be more likely to wear Rammstein pajama pants if they made them. (The few kids that would be exceptional enough to wear, say, Ramones pajama pants are actually quite tame.) I don't think I ever knew anyone at Lincoln who liked Pink Floyd aside from this one kid, and I was probably the only person at Lincoln to own a Clash shirt (and I don't even like them very much outside of their more reggaeish stuff! My mother bought it for me assuming that I did, but I'm afraid that my main issue with The Clash is that I'm simply disenchanted with their output mainly because I think The Pop Group were what The Clash could have been if they were really radical -- and so The Clash don't seem very compelling and exciting in comparison and I see minimal reason to listen them when there's always Mark Stewart and company).

seriously, no one likes pink floyd?! i don't know if that's good or bad or if i'm just mindboggled.

the ones with ramones shirts are pretty annoying at my school too. i don't get them at all, nor do they get me, and my art class is full of 'em. the clash have always been my least favorite PUNK band... as a rock band they're great but they were way too aware of what they were doing to touch my punk rock heart. and a lot of the later stuff, which i like in concept, kinda sucked.

I don't know what to make of that either.
That's a pretty astute observation about The Clash! I think I can accept that.
