I come home from work to find the following note sitting on the keyboard:

Derek, sorry but --

I had to delete your account because all your stuff was slowing
down page loads badly. (I can't work that way.)
We will go to the pawn shop to
look for your computer today.

Doug. This is wrong on so many levels. First of all, I told him that it was my ( Read more... )

if someone else was on my computer slowing it down i'd close their account too. it's just rude to do that when it isn't your computer.

you call everyone else idiots for not doing things the way YOU want them done. that is just selfish.

Yeah, except...

1) It wasn't my account that was slowing the connection down; it was the fact that I had Soulseek running and was downloading music. He said I can have an account and download music if I want to and was basically ignorant to what makes a computer/connection run slow. That gives him no real reason to close my account and in turn erase all my stuff -- he should've listened to me or investigated the problem before making a drastic change.

2) I don't do that until I go to work, which is 10 PM. He rarely gets on stays up past 11 or 12.

Derek is always manipulating a situating in his favor, leaving out facts and playing down shit, etc, for his own good and to make everyone else look like the asshole, including me.

I've found that the best thing to do when you don't know anything about something, is to leave it alone. Deleting his account was a bit extreme.

What he could've done was closed the program, and talked to Derek about it when he got a chance to, or left a note saying something like "Download music on your own time." ALSO, how hard is it to end a program? I mean, if he knew how to cancel the account, he could've just as easily closed the program..

okay um, Derek was warned, and besides it was Derek's responsability to not leave shit up on someone else's computer that's gonna slow it down. that would only be acceptable if it was on his own machine.
