poem a day

[hatboxmoon]

1/4/05

as though an arial photograph
i know you now,
after all what is between us?
a map of veins.

a child, i watched you
garden beneath a patchwork
of mulberry leaves;
generations bloomed
from your palm.
this family tree,
thick as genesis.
