Disney icon tutorial #4!

Jun 06, 2007 23:09

OK boys and girls, I have another icon tutorial for you! My friend Jiffy (
kumbaya_icons) is a newbie to Photoshop, so I thought I'd post a new, easy icon coloring tutorial I did in Photoshop!

Bring out the colors in your icons! Use this base:
 to make this beautiful icon:

1. Open up your base. This image came from http://www.disney4you.com.
2. Duplicate your base, resize it to 100x100 pixels, and set your blend mode to screen, opacity 75%. Play with your opacities!
3. Make a new layer (shift+control+n in Photoshop). Set it on top of your previous layer, and set this layer to soft light 71% opacity. Fill that layer with this pale gold color: e1d797. This will enhance the skin tones.
4. Make another new layer. Set this layer to color burn 100% opacity. Fill it with this bright blue: 86d2fe.
5. Make a new levels adjustment layer (Layers+New Adjustment Layer+Levels). In the RGB mode, type in these settings: +14, +0.82, and +239. This is a prep step for what's coming next.
6. My icon's looking a little desaturated. So I make a new hue/saturation adjustment layer (Layers+New Adjustment Layer+Hue/Saturation), and up my saturation to +52. Again, adjust this number if needed!

Done! Wanna see what else I've made with this tutorial?

Remember:
-Just because some icons are textless does NOT mean they are bases unless the link of the icon includes the word base!
-Credit me if using 1 of my icons!
-ALWAYS play around with the coloring on your icon! Try not to copy me exactly!

-Post your results here!
