Shania Twain icon tutorial!

OK so I was messing around in Photoshop this morning, and ended up making a beautiful Shania Twain icon, and I decided I'd post how I made it. Here goes! This is the icon I made:
using this pic: Click here! using simple color layers .

Step 1: Open up the pic you'd like to use, crop it, resize it to 100x100, and sharpen if necessary.
Step 2: Duplicate your base, and set that to screen 100% opacity. This lightens up the pic, since the pic I used was dark, but you can skip this step if your pic is already light. OK ready to move on?
Step 3: Make a new layer, and fill it with c3c9ff (a sort of light, pale blue color), and set that to color burn 100% opacity. I decided this would enhance the colors in Shania's dress.
Step 4: Make a new layer and fill it with this color: ffd0e6 (a pale pink), and set it to soft light 100% opacity. This was done to bring some color into the pic.
Step 5: Make another new layer, and fill it with 031732 (a very dark, navy almost black shade of blue) and set that to exclusion 100% opacity.
Step 6: One more time: make a new layer, and fill it with ab9b93 (a beige/tan color) and set that to overlay at 45% opacity.
Step 7: Duplicate your base, bring it up to the top, and set it to soft light 100% opacity.
Step 8: Make a new image, sized 100x100. Then I took this brush:
(this brush is made by the wonderful Mutsie), and brush it onto your new image, but make sure it's EXACTLY in the center of your image, or the next step will look strange.
Step 9: Take your icon that you created, copy it (go to select: select all, then go to edit: copy merged)
Step 10: Paste your icon onto the brush, and set the icon to screen 100% opacity.

And that's it! You can add a brush or text, I just added text in the font "galeforce"  at size 12 point. I'd love to see your results if you use this tutorial , and if you have any questions or problems, please feel free to ask me! You can definitely do this in Paint shop pro, just make sure you change the "color burn" layer to "burn". Be sure to play around with the opacities as well!
