Yup, another lovely Martina McBride icon tutorial! We're going to give a dull looking pic a beautiful vibrant look! Ready to go? I have the .psd file saved if anyone wants to see the icon step by step! Make this icon:
using this pic:
Martina McBride Program used: Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0
Translatable: Yes!
Level of difficulty: Easy! Very beginner's friendly as well, 7 steps in total! :)
1. Open your pic, resize it to 100x100, and crop it (not in that order).
2. Duplicate your base, sharpen it once (don't sharpen in the base- I just learned that! If I sharpened the base and duplicated it, the icon would look oversharpened and not pretty!), and set it to screen 100% opacity.
3. Make a new layer, and fill it with 161236. Set this layer to exclusion 100% opacity.
4. Make a new layer. Fill it with ceafb7 and set this layer to mulitply 100% opacity. The coloring looks weird so far, but I promise, it gets better!
5. Make another new layer. Fill it with 3fe3e1 and set the layer to soft light 100% opacity.
6. Duplicate your base, bring it to the top, and set it to hard light 100% opacity.
7. Make a new hue/saturation adjustment layer, and in the master mode, up the saturation to +45. Play around with your settings though!
Done! I added text, but you don't have to! Here are a few other icons I made with this tutorial:
If you try this out, please share your results with me! Friend me if you like the tutorial! Please play around with your opacities, and don't expect this tutorial's outcome to be the same for every icon you make because it won't. That's why I posted other icons I made with the tutorial. :)
