That's right, madatory overtime. I had to go in for a noon-6 shift at work today. Catch-up work, since we were given the 4th off. It was boring, and I've got a bit of a cold or something (in July in Texas?), so I can think of betters ways to spend a Saturday. I found a third Barnes & Noble gift card in my desk, to go with the two that I've been carrying in my wallet for at least two years. They combined to about $50, so I decided to spend 'em. I’m settling into the groove at my new job. I got moved to the section my roommates work in last Friday, doing ten hour shifts five days a week. It’s certainly not challenging work, but takes long enough to become tiring at the end of the shift. I haven’t had time to write, or LJ, or post on forums, or much of anything ( Read more... )

I want to (actually) do some writing before I go to bed, but the thunderstorm that rolled through the area a few hours ago seems to have left the power grid a mess. It’s gone out three times in the last half hour, the last for a full minutes.

Went ahead and dropped my "effective immediately" notice at the stocking job. I might decide to go in tonight anyway, and say "immediately means tomorrow". But probably not.

I (finally) got that new job. I start on Monday. The only question is, do I go in for my shift tonight, and then tell them I’m quitting, or do I just quit? I could certainly use the money I’d make, but I don’t want to put up with that insanity one more night. Plus, you know, having a three day weekend, on the weekend, would be pretty cool.
