Name: Jack O’Neill
Age: Born 1952 - 58 in 2010
Fandom: Stargate; SG1 & Atlantis
History:
Jack’s life before we see him in the first movie is never explained. We hear about the death of his son and the divorce with his wife but other than that his own childhood is a mystery. Having played Jack for two years, I have created a head-canon for his childhood and I hope it works out for this history section.
Jonathon O’Neill was born on 20th October 1952 to two parents that didn’t really care about him. They were both addicted to drugs and alcohol and Johnny had to take care of both himself and his parents most of the time.
By the time he turned ten, he had had enough of his parents and decides to leave Chicago, Illinois to go and live with his grandparents in Osseo, Minnesota. He takes the interstate bus from Chicago to Saint Paul and then walks to Osseo and onto his grandparents’ cabin. It takes him about three days.
His grandparents are thrilled to see him but are also worried. (We never know which side of the family these are from). Johnny has a good childhood with his grandparents but leaves them to join the Air Force as soon as he can. It is here that he changes his name to Jack.
Between the time of joining the Air Force and the Stargate Program, Jack moved up the ranks and into Special/Black Ops even though he had a family. But after the death of his son, Charlie, Jack didn’t want to live anymore. He enrolled in the Stargate Program as a suicide mission but thanks to Skarra and Daniel Jackson, he decided to live on - in retirement on Earth.
Jack became the leader of SG-1 in 1997, when it was created and remained the leader for seven years. After one year of being in command of the SGC, he was moved to the Pentagon to command Homeworld Security. He is now a Lieutenant General but also retired.
During his time at the SGC, he has died many times, watched any others die including Daniel Jackson, been cloned more than once, grown old in a relatively short space of time, kissed Samantha Carter five times, suffered in a time loop with Teal’c, gone back in time, had the entire Ancient knowledge database downloaded into his brain twice and watched Carter almost get married.
