RP: Jack opens up

Jun 03, 2010 03:07

Jack looked at the clock at his bedside before glacing at his wife. It was 11:32pm and she was reading beside him. Jack tried to read his own book to settle his brain before bed but it didn't seem to want to work tonight.

He placed down his book and waited for a moment before speaking, his head down and his voice quiet.

"I was ten when I left."

So absorbed in her book, it took a moment for her to even realize he'd spoken. When she did, Christine turned her head to look at him, book resting on her lap. "What?"

He remained looking down, his voice slightly louder though.

"My parents house. I left when I was ten."

"Oh." Chewing on her lip pensively, she decided on setting the book on her nightstand and sitting up more, turning to face him. "What made you leave?"

Jack thought about the question for a moment. He knew the answer, it was putting into words and have Chris understand it which warranted the thinking. When he finally spoke, it was slowly, making sure it came out right.

"I couldn't stand the lack of attention...their attitude..." He shook his head. That just made him sound like a spoilt brat. He sighed and looked up at her, into her eyes, wishing her to look into his mind and take out the answer without him needing to process the memories in his head.

After a moment he looked away again, speaking low and full of emotion. "They always ignored me. I was just there to get the food or the condoms. I wasn't their son. I was their slave."
