Jack looked at the clock at his bedside before glacing at his wife. It was 11:32pm and she was reading beside him. Jack tried to read his own book to settle his brain before bed but it didn't seem to want to work tonight.
He placed down his book and waited for a moment before speaking, his head down and his voice quiet.
"I was ten when I left."

"I couldn't stand the lack of attention...their attitude..." He shook his head. That just made him sound like a spoilt brat. He sighed and looked up at her, into her eyes, wishing her to look into his mind and take out the answer without him needing to process the memories in his head.
After a moment he looked away again, speaking low and full of emotion. "They always ignored me. I was just there to get the food or the condoms. I wasn't their son. I was their slave."
