Unlike him when he'd been invited for dinner, she shows up to O'Neill's on time. Early, actually, by two minutes because she couldn't stand to wait any longer. Christine isn't limping anymore, but she is wearing flat shoes instead of her normal heels with a casually skimpy sort of dress. Not uniform, but the sort of thing common enough that no one is going to think twice about it.
Not as beautiful as the other night, but still hopefully worth noticing. She has to take a deep breath before she can annouce her presence at his door.
"You left me waiting," she says when she finally sees him, disappointment making her voice small and her stomach turn. And here she thought they were making headway.
