[ There is a stone statue of what appears to be an angel somewhere around town. Or in the forest. Or on a roof. The details are unimportant. All that is important is as long as someone is looking at this statue, the person that is this statue cannot move. Liz doesn't understand why, but right now she's really, really wishing this wasn't the ( Read more... )

[Just walking through the plaza here! Aaand stopping. Because that's new.]

Yohoho-? That's odd. I don't recall there being a statue here.

[Just going to keep staring apparaisingly for a bit, even as the pigeons come. ALAS, LIZ.

Skeletons can't blink. 8D]

[ NOOOOOOOOOO! Liz would blink if she could. She can't, so instead she thinks to herself:

The pigeon's coming over. I can see it flapping it's way -- what the hell the blue elf was right, there really is a skeleton with an afro!

... SKELETON KYAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Sadly, due to the fact skeletons cannot blink, Liz does absolutely nothing while freaking out internally and crying, equally internally, at this somewhat frightening specter.

In other news, she's decently sure that isn't a wig.

Oh, and the pigeon lands... on her arm. How... cityscape. ]

[Brook circles around the statue now, so as not to disturb the bird.]

As a musician, I may not be much of an expert on this sort of thing, but I must say that this looks like such excellent craftsmanship! Very life-like. [As if struck with an idea, he turns his head to speak with whoever might be passing by in the plaza.] Yohohoho! Wouldn't it be grand if there were more of these?

[ The bird is quite suddenly not there, as the break in Brook's attention (and the second before the onlooker looks his way, and thus Liz's, activates some new extra sense of hers that lets her know it's okay to move.

Unfortunately, she mostly makes the bird disappear (Liz assumes she moved fast enough to frighten it into flight, missing the lack of beating wings that would have indicated as much) before the new onlooker lays eyes on her.

Being frozen as a statue midway through rubbing invisible things off her arm leaves her in a very different pose than moments before. ]

[ ... was that statue in town before? Maybe if he stares at it long enough he will remember. :'D ]

[ Liz looks like she's covering her eyes. She figured that maybe if she couldn't see anyone else, then she could move!

... She figured incorrectly. Look at this statue, crying (or embarrassed) and covering her face with her hands. ]

[ That is seriously a suspicious statue. But maybe he's thinking too much about it?

A lot of strange things have been happening, according to the journals, but.

... but a statue? Someone might have just wanted to put up some decorations. SO HEI WILL TURN AWAY FROM THE STATUE AND START WALKING AWAY... ]

[ Liz once upon a time preyed on the people who read like open targets.

Li really doesn't, but she's had this urge that makes resisting really, really hard when people turn away. Well, other than running away.

FWIP! BETTER TURN AROUND, WOULDN'T WAT TO... TOUCH... YOU? ]

[Have a white kitty with familiar red eyes sitting on a giant floating musical note just watching.]

[ Liz doesn't note how these red eyes are more familiar than any other red eyes. That might be because she's silently screaming LET ME MOVE AGAIN and LOOK AWAY GODDAMMIT while otherwise appearing to stare in pained confusion back at the kitty.

On a floating musical note.

What are you? The Cheshire Rapper? ]

[And he'll just get bored now and start to float away.

Cheshire Pianist, actually.]

[ As he floats away, Liz feels a little compelled to come after him. She wants to touch this kitty... Oh snap; she freezes, someone else having laid eyes on her.

This time, she's much closer to Mr. Kitty Soul, one hand up by her eyes, the other outstretched toward his floating fluffy back.

... Weird. ]

[Ranka had never thought she'd feel relieved to be herself, but there you are. In any case, she is walking around, thank you very much, getting back used to being able to do so, and it's near the woods that she notices a statue. Well, that's strange. Keeping her gaze on it, she walks closer to get a good look.]

[ Liz wasn't feeling relieved. Liz was feeling hungry, and the one thing she's realized makes her less so by now is something that kind of creeps her out. Not that touching other people is bad, it just used to not result in disappearance and teleportation.

... Internal sigh.

Still, she's removed herself to the woods in part because she can be moving more of the time, and Liz has found she absolutely treasures movement. It's kind of cool to literally turn to stone whenever someone spots you... not.

Liz was sighted as she was looking around the area, for all intents and purposes frozen in stone as a young woman seeming to wait for someone or something that might never come. ]

[Approaching the statue.

...how pretty.

Aaaaaand she blinks once.]

[ It's the compulsion to touch that doesn't let Liz have her clean getaway. She can move fast, she finds, but never quite fast enough.

Ranka has come closer, but quite suddenly, now too has the statue.

And it's waving. (As much as any statue can wave.) ]

[ Liz is resigned to being locked into stupid positions once people catch sight of her. She's pointing... at something that's not there any longer. It's very dramatic.

Or dumb, but maybe this statue was just created to keep people pointed toward the East?

Liz hopes really hard that whatever this is looks away for a little. At least long enough to move her arm! Or move to where no one has eyes with which to see... ]

[ Liz doesn't have that internal sense that tells her it's okay to move. She remains frozen, wondering both at what this is and PIGEON AVERT AVERT DO NOT LAND ON THIS STATUE!

It's a very lifelike statue, for what it's worth. The detail is astounding, and the stone hard to decipher as far as type and origin. ]
