Name: Liz Thompson
Fandom: Soul Eater Manga
Timeline: Chapter 66
Age: Unknown, presumed teenager, 17 maybe.
Appearance: Liz is tall, thin, large breasted (yet smaller than her sister), with blonde(ish) hair and blue eyes.
Anime ReferenceManga Reference; here, she's the tall one in back.
Gun form. Abilities:
Liz can turn into a gun and use spiritual energy as bullets -- but can't wield herself (that we know of). Souls collected by Liz in her line of work are kept stored in her magazine.
Liz is known to be able to work with her sister, Death the Kid, and Kilik at this point in the series.
Personality:
Liz gets to play the sarcastic, often cowardly straight-girl to the eccentricities of her sister and of Death the Kid. She's more introspective than Patti, spending more time thinking about their past and what progress they've made, or what the future will hold than her sister ever appears to give thought to. She's close to, and to a degree, dependent on Patti, working well with
Considering the fact Liz and Patti work with Death the Kid, who, being Shinigami-sama's son, deals often with souls, it's almost hilarious that Liz herself is afraid of ghosts to the point of ignoring whatever a given ghost is saying in order to remain freaked out over the fact they're a ghost. (Considering she eats souls as part of work, it's hilarious that when souls start manifesting as ghosts she just can't take it. Her fear of ghosts extends into being creeped out and disturbed by all sorts of monsters -- she just doesn't handle them well at all.)
Liz also tends to be the most mature, in looking at situations, and is the least likely to be distracted during a mission -- if she doesn't get freaked out or stalls before doing something she perceives as dangerous.
Liz and Patti aren't above using tricks on a fairly low level to get things done -- in Baba Yaga's castle, they booze up one of the antagonists and drug him with a sleeping drug while dressed up as maids. Liz's confidence in herself and her sister improves phenomenally when working with Kid; as neurotic as he may be, as silly as her sister can be, and as cowardly as she herself an be, she knows they're capable at kicking ass -- though this is shaken when Kid is essentially book-napped by Eibon.
Liz doesn't always pick up on when she shouldn't talk about something or make an issue of something; such as when Kid is trying to not have it pointed out that he's carrying BREW, she joins in with Patti saying it's not just a flashlight or baggage, ragging on how if the equilibrium is off, he just won't move.
She also likes shopping, attractive men, and being somewhat devious.
When Kid falls into his funks, Liz has learned to help pull him out of them by praising what he is worth, or the positives awaiting him in the future. The fact that most the time he falls into self-loathing over a personal lack of symmetry doesn't always sit well with her, but it's the life she lives, and she complains about it when it's pointed out by Kid particularly in relation to herself.
Liz's relationship with her sister is incredibly important to her. As much of a coward as she is, she cannot stand the thought of her sister being killed, or allowing her sister to die.
History:
Back in the day, Liz and Patti lived on the streets of Brooklyn, beating people up for money and doing drugs. Then in a fit of inspired brilliance, Liz tried to mug Death the Kid... and here they are today.
Liz and Patti join Kid when he decides to be part of the Shibusen Academy, where they start making friends with the current class of Meisters and Weapons going through the program. Immediately before they were sent to deal with troubles at ruins in Egypt, which showcased just how much Kid's sense of symmetry screws with his ability to preform from time to time, and how effective and loyal both Liz and Patti are, to each other and to Kid. It was then, too, that Liz's dislike for the generally creepy first emerges.
Joining the school became it's own interesting challenge, but not one that was insurmountable. Having to take part in classes just showed Liz, ultimately, that she wasn't particularly studious, and most her efforts in remembering brought up tips on skin-care and manicures. Being a little preoccupied with looking and feeling good left her unprepared for testing, though it did give her some creative answers to work with.
Liz was also on call with her sister and Kid to face off against a giant ship which was coming in the coastline and devouring entire villages. They manage to find the ship, and speak with the person running it (Liz is forced to deal poorly with her cowardly nature yet again) only to be confronted with information on the true Kishin -- located so close to home.
Kid is more taken by this information, which starts bothering him immensely, while Liz is left aghast at his distractability when after the reveal, Chrona appears and absorbs the souls on the ship. Mid-chase, Kid breaks off and makes a big deal out of the perfectly symmetrical sky.
Two other events happen once back at Shibusen: one, the trio is sent out after a train in the Sahara, which further draws Kid into questioning his father and what's going on at Shibusen, and two, Medusa, a "nurse" at Shibusen, pulls off an infiltration move to resurrect the Kishin (a demon god -- formerly a human who was so insanely afraid of everything that he ends up devouring his own partner and innocent souls to "save" himself and protect himself further) locked within his own skin under the Academy. Liz and Patti, as usual, accompanied Kid on this adventure, which was ultimately unsuccessful. The Kishin resurrected, and escaped after battling Shinigami-sama -- and then started spreading insanity across the world.
Medusa had been "killed" during the Kishin's resurrection, and is later revealed to have saved herself and slowly started building her power again, only to find the Kishin's release has brought out her long-dormant older sister. Shibusen is forced to deal with Arachne's threat, and starts collecting the artifacts of power, more or less, ahead of Arachne herself. (These are all demon tools of a sort, created by Eibon, a "friend" of Shinigami-samas from many, many years before.)
BREW, a powerful artifact, was recovered by Medusa... who brings it to Shibusen. Ultimately she's able to wheel and deal to not be killed, among other things, and later offers herself as the link to infiltrating Arachne's stronghold in order to bring her down.
Liz was assigned as part of the guard for Medusa when the attack on Baba Yaga's castle was planned. Approaching through the forest was it's own hazardous event, but they were led into the tunnel systems and ultimately brought into the castle itself. Liz and Patti ended up being outfitted as maids and taking care of the man Maka had been pulled aside to clean for. She's not terribly distraught by the situation when she returns with Patti to the main group, and Liz is the only one who doesn't jump on Medusa when she shows up in gladness for seeing her.
During the infiltration and attack on Baba Yaga's Castle, Liz, Patti, and Kid made their way to the 8th tower to do their part there. They're confronted by Mr. Mosquito, who attempts to stall them by reverting to various former forms of himself. He severs Kid's arm, the one holding Patti, and looks to be winning when the BREW activates and temporarily merges with Kid, connecting the middle line of his sanzou hair lines (three incomplete white lines on the left side of Kid's hair) and boosting his power immensely. He's able to reattach his arm and increase his soul resonance with the sisters, which in turn increases their output capacity.
The werewolf Free, who had mistakenly come to the same tower, managed to break the lock during this battle, and it would have been fine and dandy if in running around to further help people out by causing chaos in the middle of the castle -- except he runs into Mosquito facing off against Eibon. Only Eibon is really a man called Noah. Kid tossed Liz and Patti to the side when he realized something bad was going down, and was promptly sucked into Noah's book.
After Kid was abducted into the book Eibon was holding, Liz transforms back into human form and holds Patti on Noah, demanding to have Kid returned. Noah calls the shivering, frightened Liz beautiful, and says that "isn't enough to make you worth collecting." Patti starts yelling at Liz to do something, while Liz says it's not like they have a hope of standing up to Noah. Patti yells at her sister, calling her a coward and saying she doesn't want to save Kid, while Liz retorts it's not that she doesn't want to save Kid, but that she can't just let Patti get herself killed, either. She starts crying, asking for her sister to not put her on the spot like this... and Patti transforms back, asking what they were meant to do now.
In the meantime, the Castle is dealt with through the combined efforts of everyone else at school, and Maka and Soul become just that much cooler and stronger.
Back at Shibusen, Patti and Liz don't really have a choice except to train with each other, deciding who is the more effective welder of whom. Patti ends up having a better shooting average, regulating Liz to being the first impulse preforming weapon.
The first mission they're sent out on is with Kilik and his Weapons, along with Kim and her own Weapon. They were sent on a sort of information recovery mission in South Africa, and were attacked in leaving by people controlled by the insanity leaking out through the world. From this point and time, upon returning to Shibusen, she's been taken.
Roleplay Sample - Log:
Liz groaned, rubbing at the back of her head as she sat up, looking around herself in confusion. The last thing she remembered was spotting a piece of paper that had been blown in front of her on the street, and picking it up to read it over. "Candlejack" didn't mean anything to her in particular, though it sounded almost like the new store that had opened up in downtown Death City.
"Ugh, everything aches." Standing, she brushed dirt off of herself with a small frown, not recognizing her current location. There was something vaguely moss-like around her feet, and a few ridiculous plants stuck here and there. The only structure she could see was a bright, garish color, and placed off to the left. "Where am I?"
There didn't seem to be anyone around to answer her question, which was mildly irritating, and also mildly frightening. Taking a further interest in her surroundings, Liz found herself calling out for the first person she was expecting to see near-by. "Patti? Where are you?" Her sister had been right in front of her last she knew, but there was no sign of the shorter, energetic blonde.
It was disconcerting, to say the least. Liz rubbed at her arms, not liking this whole situation. "Is anyone out here?" She swallowed hard, moving toward the standing structure with a sense of foreboding. Wasn't this a bit too much like all those movies with the young girl in the woods -- or not quite the woods, but a place with nature present -- and things ended badly?
No number of years on the street could stop her from shivering just a little as she hurried to the building. She hoped to find someone (an alive someone, and friendly, to boot) around there. It made as much logical sense as anywhere else in this place, wherever it might be. She couldn't be too far from Shibusen, maybe in the mountains? Clearly out of the desert, given the surroundings.
If she were lucky? It might be Oregon. Not that she could afford the time away from figuring out what they could do to help defeat Noah, whatever he really was, and to get Kid back, and stop the Kishin and the spread of insanity through the world, but a shopping trip would be therapeutic.
Roleplay Sample - Journal:
[ Audio feed picks up the sound of someone groaning, then slowly sitting up in med, covers shifting as they do so.
They yawn. ]
Aaaaaah, I feel horrible. What's this mattress made out of, granite?
[ There's a pause, a potentially audible inhalation, and then a low groan. ]
Oh, no, no no no no, my room doesn't look like this. Patti? PATTI? KILIK? THUNDER? LIGHTING?
[ Very very frightening! The voice gets louder; the person freaking out on the other end has gotten out of bed and shortly there-after, banging fists can be heard on the door. ]
Let me out! I'm too sane to be crazy! We haven't found Kid yet! The whole world couldn't have gone made after just one encounter with zombie-like people and a clown!
