New Laptop! *poing poing poing* *bounces off walls*

My new laptop has arrived! When I checked the tracking website this morning it said it left the UPS place in the suburbs at 8am to be delivered, and just now Mike IMed me at work to say THE EAGLE HAS LANDED. So I am typing with joy, and I am going home to play with it. And bake dessert for the Chili Cook-Off, and make a new puzzle for the planetarium, and write up the Campus Minitry Board meeting minutes.... Yeah. But first, LAPTOP.

For those who haven't heard the story (that would be everyone but my brother, I think), I've been using my Thinkpad i-series, Falkor, since August 1999. It has a <5 GB harddrive, 32 MB of RAM, and runs Windows 98. It doesn't have Office, but does have Lotus SmartSuite, which I love. It came down with the Nimbda virus in spring 2002, and hasn't been the same since. Also the CD-ROM drive broke years ago. It runs very, very, veeeery sloooow. And yet I've loved it. But it is time for a new computer. One which I can run powerpoint presentations on, which I have to do at *least* once a semster. And, you know, do actual stuff other than AIM and very slow web-browsing. So, last fall after consultation with Mike I declared my desire to get a new laptop for my birthday (which was Jan 27th). My family was thus informed that for my birthday, I would like contributions to the laptop fund. And two weeks ago I ordered it. It's a new Thinkpad R50e, Windows XP Pro, 512 MB memory (seriously looking forward to that), etc etc, if people care I'll share the details. Now I think I'm going to **squeeee** all the way home.

Oh, the new machine will need a name. I'm lousy about naming stuff, so I'd welcome suggestions. :-) I'm considering Earthsea-based names, but I'm not sure about that yet.
