Seriously. Really. Are you kidding me?!

Just a personal opinion post on the incident of someone who's been uploading videos to a streaming site. Again, just a personal opinion, feel free to not read it; it's mainly just for me to vent stress, and express myself/, well that, and state my opinion (obviously).

Note, it's going to be long.

WHY?! The rules of all the communties I'm in, and not in, all clearly state that you are not to reupload any videos onto anything, including streaming sites! Are the rules just decoration for you, so you could just make an empty promise to follow them, and join the community?!

I saw her tumblr post which said "Promised my friend to upload this for her, cuz she have slow connection she cant download, If maybe some people are want to watchh it I post here."

That doesn't justify anything; streaming and downloading take up the exact same bandwidth, especially if they're the exact same video, and the only difference is that downloading requires for all the data to gather up before you can watch it, while streaming is data broken up bit by bit, and taken as you watch it. Just be a bit more patient, and there would be no need for the streaming.

If you just think about it more, the obvious choice would be to download, because considering both the advantages and disadvantages, plus the fact that the bandwidth is the exact same, downloading videos from moderated membership communities (plus some open and closed ones) has waaaaaay less risk than uploading it to public streaming site where it might potentially catch the eye of some very serious officials.

Furthermore, if people want to watch subbed videos, they will eventually find their way to LJ themselves. I did, and everyone else did as well, there is no need to upload it into a streaming site. If people really want something, they will find it, so just let them learn for themselves.

Japan does not appreciate piracy, the international fandom depends on it. Catching their attention is NOT a good idea for anybody. Chances are, if they find out about these subbing communities, it's likely they'll get into some serious trouble, meaning for people who need them... no more subs will be avaliable, or even worse, no more videos of any kind will be very easily accessible like it is now.

Currently, the Japanese government is hunting down illegally pirated anime/manga by taking down sites which host them, along with streaming sites, and other places. Who knows if this could happen to the fandom someday? I don't think you want to find out.

Plus, No one in the fandom is appreciating your efforts, aside from your friend(s), and maybe new fans who don't know about the existence of the communities in LJ yet, but it's likely that when they do, they'll disapprove of what you're doing as well.

Just a word of advice, FOLLOW THE DAMN RULES. They exist for a reason, though it seems you don't know that reason, so let me clearly state it out for you.

These rules exist to protect the international fandom from being discovered. They also exist to protect the precious subs created by the wonderful communities who take time out of their busy lives so we, the people who are unable to understand Japanese, or still learning Japanese to enjoy. Now, if these wonderful communities are gone, everyone will scorn the one to have caused the trouble, since we love our subs, and the subbers, plus we'll be left to try and understand the raw videos (if we can find any that is), or until we study and perfect our Japanese to a certain level, but that will most likely take years, SO, do the smart thing and stop NOW, as well as take down the videos you uploaded.
