A large owl flies over Hogsmeade, circling it a few times until it spots the recipient of the note it carries and swoops down to land on a fence next to the dark figure.

Snape heard the owl before he saw it and turned his head to look at the bird. It was carrying a message and held out the foot towards him. It was a message for him then. He took it and opened the note, scanning the text quickly.
The owl seemed to be waiting for a reply and started grooming itself, keeping half an eye on Snape. Well, replying in the middle of the street might be problematic. He picked a twig of the tree next to the fence and transfigured it into a pencil, then tapped the note to make it stiff, so he could write without problems.
[Return Owl]
Lucius,
I will be there.
S.Snape
[/Owl]
He removed the charm from the paper and folded it up before reattaching it to the owls leg. As he discarded the pencil, it lost the temporary transfigured form and turned back into a twig.
As the owl took off, he returned his attention to the small group of 3rd year Gryffindors, who were bickering in front of Zonko's. He would give them a moment longer to calm down before he would make them.
