Because I am on the verge of being caught. There is more than sufficient evidence to prove this and I have no intention of denying my guilt. Or rather, I have no reason to. I will have achieved what I set out to achieve and the concequences are irrelevant.
Besides, prisons are simple structures, easily escaped.
...so you think just because you'll go to jail you'll suddenly feel more at ease with yourself? Punks like you need a good kick to the gut to wake yourselves up.
Being in prison won't resolve anything. Find the family of the one you murdered and tell them what you did, why you did it, then ask them to forgive you.
Can't do it?
Then you're not ready for facing guilt.
[[ooc: Kaga has this complex about running away from things... not that Light's running, Kaga just sees it that way.]]
I've considered going to the woman I've murdered and apologizing, but I was informed by someone in a better state of mind that it might be more harmful to the woman.
Though the fact I face is simply that I had no reason for killing that woman in particular -- the selection was moderately random, though the act wasn't.
I don't need external forgiveness for what I've done. My 'guilt' as you call it has become a driving force in my life already, I need no forgiveness from anyone by myself and I cannot grant myself that until my mind has been returned to proper working order.
It shouldn't be long before I can begin the process.
I am not so proud in this world as I was in the last. It's not so much that I wish for credit -- I simply wish for my rival and soon, my captor, to be relieved of the undue blame that has been placed upon him for the murders.
I carved his name into the woman's chest after she was dead. People appear to believe that I was leaving behind my own name, not his, though it was a relatively expected consequence. I no longer have use for that... side effect anymore. Besides, after you've reached 100,000, another murder really doesn't matter much.
Unless it's the first one you've committed with your own two hands.
It was a message to him more than anything -- to ensure that murder in particular caught his attention.
I used a device that might be considered 'magic'. A notebook that would kill the person if you wrote their name into it. I could, of course, specify time and method of death, so long as the method was not murder, and they were not made to murder someone else before their own death.
I don't have any of the notebooks in my posession any longer. Not that they do much good in this world, where the dead come alive again.
After all that taunting earlier, huh... So this is what you meant when you wanted to make things interesting? You've got a twisted sense of entertainment, buddy! I'm gonna kick your butt if I ever see you!!

100,000! Impressive body count! I can think of several people you'd get along very well with! If I may ask, what sort of techniques do you use?
