How many icons can you make from one short scene? It's a wee bit overkill, sorry. :)

01-22 The Tudors (Episode 3)
22-25 Fuchsia Groan from Gormenghast

I stopped watching the series after this episode, mostly because I didn't have time or enough space on my computer :P. I am wondering whether I should start watching it again, lots of people on my flist seem to enjoy it despite melodramatic and non-historical tendencies.

Anyway these are lovely! I really like 10-12, 14, 19-21. Who is the character in the last three icons? She must have been introduced after I stopped watching. It looks like actress Neve McIntosh, but I looked at her IMDb page and The Tudors isn't listed. HM. Anyway I like the icons of her, too, though of course I have no context because I don't know who she is ;P.

Thanks sweetie. *hugs*

I saw the first episode when it aired in the US and I wasn't impressed either and promptly lost interest. However, one of my friends is such a fan of the series that I had to give it another go, and now I'm rather fond of it. The historical inaccuracies are very distracting at times, but it's the costumes and hairstyles really get my goat - they're just from so many different eras that I completely lose track and go into a catatonic state! OK, perhaps the effect is not so severe, but it does annoy me. The costume department on this series must have been drunk the entire time.

Despite all that, I'm quite enjoying the series now. It's a bit of escapism and there are some nice touches now and again. It's not on the same level as Rome by any means, but I'm quite fond of it all the same. :)

The last 3 icons are Neve McIntosh - well done! I love her, don't you? The icons are of the BBC's adaptation of Gormenghast in which Neve played Fuchsia Groan. Perhaps a new idea for *nudge nudge wink wink*? I know a lot of ( ... )

The one part of The Tudors that literally had me laughing out loud was when Henry (John Rhys-Meyers) is getting a doublet made and is able to do an entire scene in a SLEEVELESS doublet. That's the doublet they use in a lot of publicity, too... WITHOUT SLEEVES. Oh my. I mean yeah I'm glad he works out, too, but it's not exactly a historical detail. Overall I think JRM overacts as Henry and is given some really stupid lines. The characters who really interest me are the supporting characters, and of course Anne Boleyn, though she wasn't in it as much during the episodes I watched. I might give it another shot, escapism sounds good and it's period fodder at least.

Neve McIntosh is wonderful in everything I've seen her in, both period and modern, which is rare. I will definitely have to check out Gormenghast, though I'm not exactly sure what I'm being nudged to do. So I'll just sort of stumble along and hope that I eventually have this new idea... ;D

Sorry. So subtle am I. So subtle and crafty that I too had no idea why I was nudging you to watch Gormenghast! What's with the nudge nudge wink wink? I must have had some sort of fit. Sorry.

Oh!!! I've now remembered that I'm referring to costumesarelove. Perhaps I should post Gormenghast...hmmm...

As for The Tudors - the sleeveless doublet...what is going on there? They've made Henry a screaming and insufferable brat. Perhaps I'm alone in understanding his position in some way. I mean the importance in continuing the line was everything. I'm not condoning his penchant for lopping of the heads of wives and all that jazz, but I don't catagorise him as being a stupid, evil bigamist. An egotistical man perhaps, but I don't that's unusual for men in a position of power. Hold on, where was I? Oh yes, sleeveless doublets = bad. LOL! Ramble much.

Have you read the Eric Ives biography of Anne Boleyn? I've just bought a Joanna Denny (?) bio, but I've heard that the Eric Ives one is the ultimate.

Have you seen the ITV's Henry VIII with ( ... )
