Now that the storm has died down...

I joined this community after I saw it in the spotlight... I kind of thought "Hey... yeah! I know I've had some odd experiences, maybe someone can shed some light!".... I have held off posting until now as I saw the community was very busy. I didn't want to add to the cacophony.

So, right now, I think my flatmate and I have a spirit amongst us. I'm ( Read more... )

I definitely don't think it's in your imagination. To me, it sounds like this ghost was a religious person in life, which might explain why the TV is turned on to the Christian programming.

I say, if this ghost doesn't seem sinister and isn't really bothering you, then I can't see any reason why you can't coexist peacefully. If the footsteps at night bother you, I'd suggest getting a sound machine, or even a fan, to drown out that sound so you can sleep.

Don't be embarrassed by the bed thing; that is scary & would freak out anyone.

I definitely don't think it's in your imagination. And even if it is, one thing that's always good to do is just talk to it. Obviously it's listening to you since it responded by sitting next to you on the bed. If you don't want it there, give him or her a nudge in the right direction. Tell them to move on. That this is your house now and you'd appreciate your privacy...or something to that sort.
Sometimes I do this with my son, just to appease him. He is always saying he sees ghosts in his room. So I sit there with him and talk to his ghosts, tell them to go away and that they're not welcome anymore. Even if they're not real, it still makes him feel better. :) Maybe it would do the same for you? Just talk with authority and from your heart!

I've been a member of this community for probably several years now, and I recently watched it explode (due to its appearance in the Spotlight) with no small sense of mirth ( ... )

Talk to it. It seems to be hearing and it seems to not be a treat.
Start by small things "Would you please not put the TV on the loudest setting?" if it responds to it then you can move to other more big things like asking fot the reason of the pacing on the stairs and offering help to move on.

I like this idea :). Honestly, I'm not really concerned about the spirit, it does seem friendly enough and I don't think its hanging around because its "stuck here" or wants to cause a menace.

I think just quietly asking it not to turn the tv up so loud would be a good start :) I really don't mind that it likes to watch tv, not at all. But the volume thing is a little annoying. Maybe thats its way of trying to get our attention?

Aww, I think it's nice that the spirit responded to your talking to it. It sat next to you. I think you should try to talk to the spirit again. It doesn't seem like it means any harm, and in my opinion, it appears to be friendly and open to communication. Perhaps if you spoke to it again, you might be able to come to an understanding -- Christian TV in the middle of the night is OK, but not at full blast. I don't know, lol. I just think it sounds like a friendly spirit and because of that, I'm finding this whole situation quite cute.

I should also mention I'm having caffeine withdrawals, hahaha.

But my advice would be to talk to it again! :)
