House blessing
Thought i'd share my own sort of house blessing ritual,
I am closer to being wicca than any thing, though i do dabble in darker things so now and then i need to house clean if you know what i mean. lj cut for space.
This was originally written for a friend who had recently moved to new apartment and her daughter was seeing a mans shadow/face in her room.
Basic Supply:
chalice (cup)
feather (preferably canary but any bright earthy color will do)
sea salt
**if possible do on summer solstice, longest day of the year**
mix up some salt water in the cup, Light your incense, carry it with you as you do the following, start with your front door marking it with salt water by dipping the feather, drawing a X, cross, star, or whatever symbol you are comfortable with, continue on to all rooms and all all portals inside or not ie doors to other rooms, mirrors, windows, make sure to do each part of window if its divided l+l work *counter clockwise* so to the left.. doing each room one at a time, until you are back at the door you started with, all the while saying either out loud or in your head "this is my home, you are not welcome here, begone!' or some variation of it to make it more your own, put some emotion into it, you are protecting what is yours.When you get back to the door do whatever you want to make noise, ring bells, stomp your feet, whatever, and then imagine a blinding bright light going out from you, filling the entire home with white light, and welcome in any good spirits and blessings to your home while driving out any negative forces.
The real power of the blessing comes from you, the emotion and spiritual power you put into it as you do each room and each marking.
(note for the tokers out there, take a toke in each room as you do the cleansing, its more earthy than today's incense, i dont do it personally, but i know others that prefer it)
