What's happening on Wednesday?

It would be really nice if our principal would inform us about the schedule for Wednesday. Monday's all gone now. Happily, I assumed that nothing meaningful would happen on the early-release day before Thanksgiving, so I planned for a regular lesson today and tests on Tuesday. I'm Xeroxed and ready to go. That's insane. Why isn't the schedule set at the beginning of the year? Is there actually a good argument for that flexibility?

Nope. No good argument at all. It just seems to have taken him by surprise. An early release day before Thanksgiving weekend? Who could have predicted that?? Well, yeah, it's been in the BPS calendar since September 1st.

Totally unpredictable. Y'know, like, who would have expected both a hurricane and a flood in New Orleans back in 2005?

Checking my attendance from last year, it appears I didn't even both recording who showed up on Wednesday. I probably showed movies and brought out the puzzles.

We went through something similar in the military all the time, only regarding the Friday after Thanksgiving: will it be an official holiday, or will we have to go to work? Last minute call, every year. Though I suppose it is slightly more reasonable that Something Exciting might happen last minute that would require us to be on the job.
