[The words are out before Ema even realizes she's thought of them. Almost instantly, she gasps and covers her mouth with her hands, staring at him in anticipation of retribution.]

Her first instinct is to try and pull away, but that proves impossible with the way he's holding her by her hair and pulling on it. If anything, her pulling back just makes the hair-pulling hurt worse, so Ema doesn't put up much of a fight.
She does, however, cover her ears (although it's not enough to block him out) and squeeze her eyes shut. When she answers, she's practically screaming.]
