[It's the silence that snaps him awake - more dissonant than any actual sound could ever be. It's like he's been struck deaf inside his own head. No, worse than that; while a person might have encountered a lack of sound before in their lives, Schuldig has almost never had any lack of thoughts to listen to. Listen, hell; they've practically fought ( Read more... )

[Schuldig snaps a glare at her. A child - not that this means anything to him. Not only doesn't he have any morals that would make him hold back against a kid, he's used to not judging children by their size or age. He could practically turn a man's brain inside out at that age, after all.] Did you have something to do with this? [His voice is low, and dangerous.]

[You could always tell when someone was dangerous by the look in their eyes. Almost by instinct, Misaka's hand jerked into her pocket and pulled out a penny. She held it between her thumb and forefinger, her arm outstreched toward Schuldig.]

No, I didn't so don't try anything stupid.

[Considering that Ema shares this room that Schuldig is currently tearing apart, it's impossible for her not to notice. Seems like the town has finally seen fit to replace her drone husband, and of course she's assigned a husband who freaks out first thing. Well, she's going to have to do something to stop him, or else neither of them will have a place to sleep.

She enters the room and beelines straight to him.]

Woah, woah, woah! [She reaches over to grab his arm.] Calm the hell down, will you?!

[Schuldig is not a man of reasonable reactions at the moment. The woman is the one in the pictures with him, which to him means one thing - somehow, she's involved with this. That's enough.

He turns on her, yanking his arm free of her grip even as the other hand shoots up to enclose her throat. He shoves her back against the nearest solid object, his grip probably tight enough to bruise but not quite so much that she can't answer his questions.] What have you done to me?

[The force with which Schuldig grabs her and shoves her into the wall is enough to make Ema yelp in pain. Practically out of instinct, she reaches up with both hands to try and pry his hands off her throat. Every inch of her body is trembling in anger and fear.]

I didn't do anything to you! You're a prisoner of this town, same as me! Now let me go!!

You're in these pictures with me. Did you set this up? [Yeah, he's not letting Ema go until he's satisfied, which means Q&A for now.]

[There's a brief pause, but Schuldig relaxes a bit when he at least hears a familiar voice.] Hmph. You know we'd be running this place if it were Hell, Nagi.

I can't hear anything. What about you?

What else would you call a place that considers me Siberian's son and makes us as normal as them?

[That's his way of saying that yep, he's powerless too.]

[There's a pause, then a bark of laughter.] Siberian? Oh, yes, I can see the family resemblance.

Hee hee~. They must have taken something quite precious for you to be this upset.

A bit, yes. It's always entertaining watching people yell at the world in a futile effort to change it. But would it make you feel better if I sympathized, instead?

I've been in situations like this before, and they always play out the same way. The men in charge hood the falcon; my role is to find out who they want me to go after when they take the hood off.

Hah. And what use could I possibly have for your sympathy?

Bargaining with our captors isn't going to work, I'm just saying. But if you really want to give it a try, then go get 'em tiger.
