[Huh. This wasn't good. Herz had just finished checking his pockets and, uh, his comm was missing. Well, no, not missing. It was on his dresser. He knew it was. Little hunk of tech just hadn't made it into his work-out pants after he changed for the gym.

This could be bad.

Or...absolutely nothing.

...he was already at the gym, anyways.

Now that he ( Read more... )

[Not that he was ever terribly self-conscious, but Tan still wasn't a fan of having an audience when shadowboxing, which is why he'd waited until a little later in the day than usual to head for the gym.

When he sees Herz, he almost decides to leave again and come back later (maybe tomorrow?), especially considering their last meeting the other day had ended spectacularly badly, but he changes his mind. He's always sucked it up and dealt before, why would now be any different?

Except he keeps getting distracted. Looking at Herz.

Goddammit.]

Hey.

[Oh yeah, really engaging conversation there. Way to go, Tan.]

[The weights in the machine he's using click faintly as Herz pauses, looking up from the floor to Tan. Then he lets them drop, and the one hundred and fifty pounds clatter noisily to a stop. The teen wipes his brow.

He hadn't been sure if he wanted to resolve this mess yet. Seeing Tan? Yeah, no. He really doesn't. Remembering it still manages to make him queasy, and that's really not a feeling he wants to experience when working to better himself and his body.]

Uhhh--hey.

[That is...a loud sound. Jarring. It actually takes some effort not to wince at the noise...or at the look on Herz's face. Well, this is awkward.]

Wanted to say sorry for the other night. Make it up to you somehow.

[When in doubt, GET IT OVER WITH.]

Y--you don't--don't have to.

[Mainly because he's having a really hard time figuring out how you could. He understands why he tried and why he tried with that particular question, now that he's had a few days the stew on it. Doesn't mean it wasn't a dick move and insensitive and petty and a whole bunch of other whiny-sounding words that Herz is uncomfortable using, lest he sounds like a raging bitch.]

I mean, I--...I accept the sorry, but you don't, uh, don't gotta--gotta go...making it up to me.

[This is one of the two main places Leo has been going to alleviate his cabin fever, and it's usually empty when he goes. Not this time, though.

He pauses at the door, a little surprised; not surprised that Herz was there, but more because they hadn't really spoken in a while.]

Herz. Hey.

[Herz's focus breaks again, but this time he at least comes out of it with a smile.]

Leo! Hey.

[Thiiis time, when he lets his weights drop, he isn't a jerk to his machine. The eases them down slow, then lets his arms drop to his knees.]

Good seeing you, man.

...uh...

N-No, turtle.

[WHOOPS.]

"Man" is fine. Or dude. Or whatever, I'm not picky. [Really seriously, he's down with it. "Turtle" is actually the one that sounds weird.

Leo wanders over to a chin-up bar, but doesn't begin since it would be rude and all that.]

Sorry I haven't been around lately. I keep meaning to come by and see you, but then things crop up...

[He runs his fingers down his cheek, but the smile doesn't go back into hiding. It just becomes sheepish.]

Hey, it--i-it's okay. I'm pretty guilty of--of it, too. I mean. I--I could've asked you to, uh, to--to hang out over the comms or something. So it's fine.

You, uh, you been okay? Since...

[...squint.]

God. June?
