I received 2 items of note in the mail today.
Item #1 is the least interesting: 512mb of RAM for the home machine. This brings the total memory up to a gig and means that
ash_grey_sky's Firefox window with 37 deviantart tabs open doesn't slow the machine to a crawl anymore.
Item #2 was an envelope from Microsoft containing 3 copies of the July 2005 issue of MSDN Magazine (visible in outline (and eventually full-length) form
here). Why should I/you/my dog/anyone care? Because the 2nd to last item on the cover is this: Behind the Scenes: Discover the Design Patterns You're Already Using in the .NET Framework - Rob Pierry. Yup. My first published article. I got paid for it, it'll probably help my standing at my company ("Design Patterns" is Marketing Buzzword Gold), and I get to add a Publications section to my resume. Maybe it will also result in a flood of ridiculously high paying job offers by impressed multi-billionaire readers which will allow me to retire in a year. Or not.
In other news, work at the new client is going very well, despite the downtown commute, basketball continues to be lots of fun (even at 6am twice a week), and Tuesday marks the 2nd anniversary of
ash_grey_sky and I getting married. Awwwwww.
