Reading the indictment makes you wonder who "Official A" is, doesn't it (Line 21, page 8)? Rove, seems the most likely guess, but since "Official A provides Plame's name to Novak" is part of the official narrative you have to wonder why no (non-sealed) indictments were served?
I also wonder what it means that none of Libby's indictments have to do with the leak (but lies he told to the grand jury, Clitonesque isn't it)? Maybe actual leak indictments are sealed, which would explain the very cryptic reference to Official A, or maybe Libby's lies made the grand jury's job of seeking out criminal behavior in the leak impossible.
Really hard to tell, maybe the news conference today will provide answers.
I'm not sure about "Merry" Fitzmas. At DailyKos about half were in mourning that only Libby was indicted and the other half were jubilant. Oh, well, the Fitz's delibrate pace can't make everybody happy I guess.
There are lots of unnamed people in that indictment that I think are significant. Rove, Bolton, Cheney, are all possibilities for some...
What I've heard is that Rove was going to get indicted, but his lawyer gave Fitz some info that prevented it. It'd be hilarious if Rove turned, sang like a canary, and sunk the entire administration. It would sure be a great way to change his legacy from Biggest Scumbag Ever to Reformed Scumbag Who Did Some Good.
Yeah, but the connections with Bolton and Cheney (according to the indictment and not random internet speculation) has to do with sharing information on Plame with Libby. The indictment states Libby got his information from the Undersecretary of State (who I think was Bolton at the time) and Cheney. That contradicted his statements he got the name from reporters.
That as far as I can tell is the only connection to Bolton and Cheney. Unless Cheney told Libby to leak the name to reporters (speculation, and hard to prove), what Bolton and Cheney did was completely on the level.
Anything about this case that starts with "What I've heard..." I tend to disregard, this case has created more than its fair share of wacky rumors. Way to much fantasizing about frog marches for my taste.
