Formatting?

Aug 24, 2011 15:56

Am I the only one attempting to deal with this new LJ text editor? I'm so confused right now. Worse than that, it seems to have developed a grudge against the enter key, so formatting that header for a house on fire took at least twenty minutes.

Then, when I went to update my masterlist, it apparently decided to remove all the formatting that was ( Read more... )

You're not alone. The new RTE blows. I had a terrible time putting my last post together

Ugh, glad to hear it. I hope there's just some glitches that need to be smoothed out and that this isn't permanent. If it is, I'm going to have to consider writing LJ a strongly worded letter. Or email, as it were.

Here's a link to my post about how to fix the formatting problems.

Having Formatting Problems - Here's some easy fixes!

You might want to add it to your memories for easy access, and please post it on your own pages so it will get around to more people. It could help.

Thanks.

Ugh, that's awful! I'm glad that what I posted earlier was short and simple, because if it was one of my longer stories, like for TTU, I probably would've cried if I had to put in so much time fixing it. I can't imagine what it must be like to have that happen with 5,000 words! *hugs* It seemed to retain my formatting from Microsoft Word pretty well, aside from the line break craziness--maybe if you do that, without the HTML markings, it might help?

late getting here, so you've probably already seen my own little rant about this, but you might not have seen this

http://lj-releases.livejournal.com/68990.html

it's the latest updates re the problems, the number of which seem to be growing by the day.

My only advice in addition to the help you've already found is this; DON'T even try to edit your master list etc. No matter what you do, anything that was originally created using the Rich Text Editor cannot be edited easily right now, as all formatting is instantly removed as soon as you attempt to edit.

I've actually not seen the rant; my Internet only just returned yesterday evening, after being knocked out on Sunday morning by the hurricane on the East Coast. I'm shying away from editing my masterlist until the fixes are done, just as you've said; I know that whatever I could do would be badly botched by the editor.

I've got several lists I need to update over at the comm I help run, but I daren't touch them for fear of losing all the work I've already put in creating the damn things.

I probably could do them via HTML, but it takes me far longer to do, and I'd have to redo them from scratch, so no, not going there, they'll just have to wait. Hopefully we wont be waiting too long for a fix
