Last Night (New 11/River Short)

One of the DVD-exclusive shorts has exploded on Tumblr and as much as I expected to dislike it, I'm slightly in love. Thoughts on it and on Doctor/River under the cut. Spoilers! I don't think I can embed it, so watch it here.

I agree. I ship in Doctor/River in a kind of casual "they're canon" way. But it could have been handled so well. But oh, this clip -- the look on Matt's face at the end when she says "You'll be the death of me."

I do hope that some of my favorite fanfic writers take the Doctor/River story and kind of "fix" it. *hint, hint* :D Possibly rectify some of the discontinuities and such. After all, isn't that what fanfic is for?

Matt's face. :'( Matt as the Doctor in general is just the death of me; Eleven is the Doctor I share the most characteristics with (each time I watch an episode I seem to have an "oh, God, I do that, too" moment), which makes me ridiculously emotionally invested in him, and Matt is capable of such devastatingly subtle shifts of expression.

And oh, I'm flattered. :D I do want to work with Doctor/River someday--River's been a difficult character for me to pin down the times I've tried working with her, so I have to keep at it a bit before I pair her with the Doctor. But it's going to happen eventually! Their relationship has such potential, as does River as a character... I just wish they were more fully explored! Everything happens offscreen!

Excellent meta! I have the same problems you do ... the only difference with me is, I need to get past the analytical stuff for the emotional aspect to have an impact -- and I can't (for the reasons you illustrated), so the emotions all fall very flat to me =/
