[For a second or two, it seems as though something is wrong with the Dreamberry because the colours seem too bright; the grass too green, the sky too blue and the edges of everything seem softened. There's splashing too, other voices being carried but not enough for actual words to be heard. Then Kara comes into view, arm in arm with an older man as they walk, approaching the talking figures.
"Where's Lee?" Kara asks as she and Adama walk along the lake as Roslin sits in the sun alongside an obviously pregnant Dee, watching Sharon and Helo splashing around with Hera who shrieks and laughs.
"Exploring," Adama smiles at Kara, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear, "This place has been good for him."
"It's been good for all of us." She's grinning too, a spring in her step as though some burden has been lifted from her shoulders and it has. "Excited about being a grandpa?"
He laughs, even as she nudges him in the ribs with an elbow. "Gods, I can't believe it."
"You'll be a great grandpa, lots of stories to tell about your days as a hellraiser. Stories about Saul too." Kara's laughing at this point as they start making their way back, Hera calling out for what sounds like aunt Kara to come see the fishy she caught all by herself. "You should make it official with Roslin you know."
"Too old to get married again."
"Never too old. And you're not old, you're distinguished."
He stares at her for a second and they both start laughing, heading back to the lake where Bill joins Roslin and Dee on the grass, pulling the older woman into his arms as Kara looks on, smile on her face softening.
She doesn't notice the man sneaking up on her until he's grabbing her and spinning her around, laughing as she kicks and flails.
"Dammit Sam!" But the laughter in her voice as the others all turn to look at them is obvious and when Sam sets her down she pulls him into a kiss, leaning her head against his when they break apart.
"Aunt Kara! Aunt Kara! Fishies!" Hera's insistent little voice and lots of splashing have Kara turning back to the lake. "No gross kissing!"
Sam laughs and kisses Kara's temple as she leads him down to the lake, hand in hand.]
[As the Dreamberry glows purple, Kara wakes up, rubbing her eyes and looking over that screen with a sad smile. Yes, it was a good dream, a damn good dream, but it's just a reminder of things that will never happen. She leaves it on as she walks away, humming quietly under her breath en route to the kitchen.]
