Round 16 - Rules and Info

Aug 10, 2013 09:00

Please find below the rules and themes for Round 16. There’s still time to sign up, if you’d like to!

Icons will be due 30 August, 2013 by the end of the day in your time zone.
Rules
% Icons must be new for the challenge and meet LJ standards of 40kb and 100x100.

% Submit entries to the community as a new entry. Remember, you must be a member in order to do this. Not a member yet? No problem - ask to sign up! If you are posting your full set directly to the community, please use an lj-cut. If you post to your own journal/community, you will need to post a link back here at the community. You must include 3 teaser icons in your post here. All entries must remain public until voting ends.

% Put your username - round # in the subject line of your entry.

% You can use the table provided; if you’d rather make your own, that’s OK, but please make sure you post icons in the same order with the theme titles. Thanks! It’s also fine to change the colors or fonts or things on the provided table.

% Animated icons are allowed for this challenge, however the limit is 2 per person this time.

% Anything that appears in the screencaps you have chosen for your episode is OK to use; this question came up before because in some later episodes, there are flashback scenes. Using those or the “titles” sequence that plays before all episodes is okay.

FYI, as a mod, I am usually pretty flexible within the bounds of the rules - I really like creativity! So if you’re not sure about an icon, please feel free to PM me to check it out before you submit. Or, if I see something I don’t think fits, I will post a question to your submission and may ask you to revise it.

% Icons are due by 30 August, 2013. All entries must be submitted to the community by the end of the day (11:59pm in your time zone). I think my handling of extensions has been unclear in the past - if you need an extension, please ask for one as soon as possible. If I decide to grant an extension, I will make a post before 12:00pm EST (New York time zone) on the due date of the challenge.

% Please try to look at the other posts and leave a constructive comment! Feedback is really nice to get. Encourage your friends to sign up, too!

Participants and their claims
The following people on this list are participating in this round.

Themes
% Flip Show one of your characters doing something more commonly seen from the other.

% Assigned Cap I have assigned you each a cap with your character pair in it. Make your icon out of the assigned cap, any way you like (that is, you are not required to show both - or either - character in the cap if you don’t want to).

% Strong/Weak Icon must show both characters, one in high contrast and one in muted tones.

% Minimal Reveal one of your characters in the icon using only the most minimal forms, features or concepts. No text, decoration, or complexity should be added to the icon; it should not show the character(s)’s whole face.

% Claim Steal You probably know the drill on this one. Make an icon featuring one or both of someone else’s pair. This icon may not include either one of your pair!

% Far away The icon cannot show any character in close detail; they must be distant in space. Must contain at least one of your characters. (You may include both.)

% Opposite Make an icon showing the opposite of each of your characters. This can be opposite gender (Audrey for Nathan; Evi for Duke, for example); an opposite “side” (Vince and Dave or The Rev and Duke) or even some other counterpart (for example, another police officer for Nathan or Audrey, or Sarah or Lucy for Audrey). Icon can be split level or otherwise featuring both characters.

% First One Icon must focus on the first character of your pair. (You may include both.)

% Then The Other Icon must focus on the second character of your pair. (You may include both.)

% Diagonal Icon must contain a diagonal element. Must contain at least one of your characters. (You may include both.)

Category
% Back Off
For this icon set, the only restriction is that one of the two characters’ backs must be shown in each icon. (You may include both backs if you like.) By “back”, I mean anything that does not show your character’s facial features, such as eyes, nose, and mouth. You may use a crop showing a character’s side if we cannot see their facial features in the crop. You may also use a crop showing the character’s lower body instead of their back, but you may only use this twice out of five icons.

You may not use the assigned cap above for any Category icon.

Artist’s Choice
Create 5 icons of your choice. These icons must contain at least one of the characters chosen (although up to two icons can contain the character/s chosen for the “opposite” themes prompt).

The table is below: copy and add the links to your icons to create your post:
