Heh - I made a macro for it on the latest post! I totally wanted to skeef another one I saw too, something about "In Russia, the blogs write YOU!" or something. But yes, being a paid person no longer sounds like a good idea. The Russian LJ users are being told that if they don't want their personal info known and used, they need to leave LJ soon. It's sad - over there, their word for "blog" is the same one as for LJ. Back to the vodka, eh?
Midget is fine; I was going on about someone I work with, yet again. I seem to recall reading that a lot of internet fraud is generated out of Eastern Europe (when it isn't coming from Nigeria) and that, once people emigrate from that part of the world to, for instance, the US, they bring their habits with them. There is an extremely high rate of auto insurance fraud, for example, in a particular neighborhood in Brooklyn - mainly inhabited by Eastern European/Russian immigrants: just living life like at home. So, no, not giving the credit card number to the Russians. Darn, and there was a promotion going where anyone getting a gift subscription got something like 100 extra user pics......wonder who would have loved that?
I would never have known about the Russians had you not said anything - I went back and looked at the update from LJ (which I normally ignore) & there it was. That sucks! Although I only have the free account, I'm hesitant about them having my personal info. Guess I'll have to find another place to write, or just go back to the old manual way of dong things.
Well, I'm also over on DeadJournal but I don't think the free accounts are as fully configured over there (that and it takes a certain mindset to deal with the 'dead' theme...). Perhaps scouting parties should be formed in advance of a migration....
