Starting a Study series

I have floated around the edges of book studies before.  Two lists I have been on did 'Ariadne's Thread' simultaneously and another group (one which I co-founded BTW) was working through Penczak's Shamanic Witchcraft last I looked.  I tried getting people to read a book on women's friendships: that went well until everyone went on summer ( Read more... )

In the past few years, I've discovered that "religion" isn't something that I need to study, take classes on, learn chants for, etc. It is something within you - your connection to something greater that yourself. I haven't discovered what that is yet, but when you connect to it, things happen, changes occur & you realize that you don't need all of those people trying to sell you their version of religion.

I don't think I would term this study series of mine as 'religion;' it's more of a lifestyle enhancement and an exploration in a direction I already seem to be going. I'm always looking to learn something new.
You know what's funny - when the one list I'm on started Penczak's 'Shamanic Witchcraft' I just had to laugh and slap myself so I wouldn't post what I immediately thought. Talk about putting things into neat little boxes and slapping labels on them: 'you do THIS and you're a witch, you do THAT and you're a shaman.' And, really, you probably aren't quite either one and to hell with titles and categorization. It was wild to recognize myself on the 'non-witch' side and learning backwards from the rest of the group.
Maybe I just want to go do an exploration.
