I think I managed to damp down that situation. No, they didn't understand and I was a good person and didn't call them an utter moron. What can you do when someone takes a couple words out of context and gets insulted, huffy, or otherwise goes into some incomprehensible snit? Explain at great length in words of one syllable or less? Life is too short for that and I'll be damned if I'm going to descend into the feminine thing and say 'I'm sorry' when I most certainly am not.

I'm betting that there are a lot of interesting people out there that had a poor experience on a forum or elist and have never gone back just because someone got 'offended' at a post and tried to rip them a new one. I can think of a certain local person who has manipulated all sorts of discussions and effectively removed them from circulation as a result. Hmmm....perhaps it's all about power. Isn't it always, though?
