Exercise

I had an interesting thought: I don't go out and exercise because it doesnt accomplish anything.  I walk and don't go anywhere, I lift weights but then put them down.  Dancing makes me feel self-conscious and the idea of going someplace and paying to use a machine to move me in certain ways just feels wasteful.  Yes, I know, I have a problem with ( Read more... )

Gardening is exercise!!!!!!

I have the same problem with the pointlessness of a lot of it.
I don't think of walking as exercise. I think of it as exploring and feeding my creativity. See what is going on in my world. It's all about the eyes/ears/nose. The feet are just coming along.

Blessings.

Perhaps what I need is a change of scenery with the walks. It's usually just a half-hour around my neighborhood with my favorite canine and then it is back to the rest of the things that fill my day. I need to get further afield. The canine is always happy to go sniff mundane things and look for critters under all the same trees, perhaps go say hello to all the other dogs in the neighborhood (we know which furry lives at which house!). Maybe I need to be more like the dog, taking pleasure in those simple things.

I should just write about the garden. It is doing well but, then, I plant so many different things that usually something grows splendidly to make up for whatever is having a bad year. Gotta figure out how to get the new camera's pix up in the journal so people can see the garden progress....
I need to do one of several things with my walks: go further afield for variety, hop in the car and drive someplace for a hike (kind of defeats some of my purpose, though), or just take delight in the same old spots like the dog does. I do occasionally get up the hill to pass one house that has a spectacular flower garden out in front - no front lawn, just a large variety of flowering plants and decorative foliage. Makes me think I need more garden....
