I want you to know as someone who cares for you and has my own experiences with anxiety: you are not letting people down by re-prioritising your commitments.
Spoons etcetera... We all only have so much energy and it must be spent where *you* get best gains from it. Yes, that means saying no to something or someone - often more than we're comfortable with. The benefit is you are better able to be truly present at the things you choose to invest yourself in.
You are not flaky. You are one person trying to make sense of your part in this mess that is life.
When I'm weaving I only wind as much yarn as I can handle on my shuttle. When the pattern is complicated I put different colours on different shuttles and the pattern becomes manageable. I don't always enjoy the process and sometimes I have to make more start and end yarns than I'd like, but when it's done, those are all on the back, tucked away where only I know of them. Everyone else just sees the whole pattern in the cloth.
