I don't think it's that they can't, it's just that they won't. Asian countries have no problem getting (fast and cheap!) Internet out in the boonies. =P The US government is irritating.

ETA: OH! Zach told me Google is going to try to give Internet to third world countries via balloon. If they get that right, maybe they'll do it here? o_O
