Okay, I try not to post stuff about my real life here, because no1curr and I like my relative anonymity, but I'm kind of stressing out about this right now.
I'm an MFA Game Design student. That's what I do in my so-called free time, when I'm not working or dicking around on the Internet.
Summer classes start today! Summer is a short term, with what would normally be a week's homework due every three days. I am taking two classes, because that's the minimum to get government funding (lol loans). I carefully arranged my schedule so that I'd be taking one studio and one non-studio class for summer. Smart, right? I know how to plan ahead to balance my workload!
Here's the dilemma part. That non-studio class has two homework track options: ESSAYS, ESSAYS EVERYWHERE OH GOD WHYYY or... mod a fucking game like a badass. I must choose now and choose wisely, because you're not allowed to switch halfway through, and the professor has explicitly stated that there will be no hand-holding. Modders also have to prove their worth within the next couple days. D:
Now, I have never modded before. I've kind of thought about it, because a) it looks like fun and b) it's an A+ way to demonstrate the technical skill and go-getter personality necessary for getting a damn job, but it also seems to have a really steep learning curve. It's almost like I'm lazy! I have minimal 3D modeling and texturing experience and have never programmed beyond HTML and hacked-together JavaScript. On the other hand, I will seriously cry if I have to write an essay every three days, even if they're essays about games.
Someone please convince this total noob that making a DA2 mod is a terrible idea for a summer class project. Even though I really, really, really want to do it.
The smart thing to do would probably be to do an Origins mod, instead, since there's a toolset and support documentation and everything. But I don't liiiiiike Origins. /whine
this was supposed to be my easy class wtf am i doing why am i even seriously considering this augh stop looking up tutorials you idiot
