Okay, now it's done.
This mod replaces one of the existing mage class specializations with a new one, Aequitarian.
Aequitarian offers:
- Hessarian's Virtue, an offensive mode that dramatically increases basic staff damage at the cost of all usable mana
- Draw the Veil, a general defense increase mode that can be layered with Arcane Shield
- Arcane Bolt, a low-cost, low-cooldown direct damage spell with a powerful knockdown
- Archon's Will, an instant shot of +10 willpower
- One Foot Beyond, a passive ability that grants a small chance of stealth when taking damage
If you use this mod, please let me know what you think! I haven't been able to test beyond basic functionality, so if you find a spot where everything goes funky or could be more efficient or whatever, I'd appreciate hearing about it.
Installation and Use:
To install, download and unzip the folder for the specialization you wish to replace. Move the folder to Dragon Age 2/packages/core/override, as for any other mod. To uninstall, remove the folder.
Because of the way this mod works, you will need to uninstall it if you want to play a character who uses the Duelist, Shadow, or Berserker specializations, or the mage specialization the mod is replacing. The mod can be installed and uninstalled at any point without issue, however, so just move it out of packages/core/override whenever you want to play another character and move it back when you want to play your Aequitarian. Note also that points put into Aequitarian do not map onto points put into the specialization it replaces--installing Aequitarian over Spirit Healer will cause you to lose any points already in Spirit Healer without gaining any in Aequitarian (the Spirit Healer spells will technically still function and will reappear in the Abilities screen when Aequitarian is uninstalled).
Compatibility with other mods is iffy--this mod will probably not work with any mod that messes extensively with specializations, such as the one that makes specializations available to NPCs. It will also not play nice with anything that changes core_en-us.tlk. Sorry. Weapon, armor, and character appearance mods should be good, though. I have not tested any of this myself, though.
