Character Name: Kate Bishop

Canon source: Young Avengers, immediately after issue four of Avengers: Children's Crusade.

Personality:

She is level-headed in combat and a quick thinker even when her life is threatened. Far from practicing false modesty, Kate always demands and gives credit exactly where credit is due. She's determined, argumentative, arrogant, and blunt. She will not be run over, especially by people she loves and respects. Her current maybe-not-quite boyfriend, Eli Bradley, knows this well since she refuses to stand for his disrespect and occasional casual sexism in their relationship even though she loves him. She doesn't take crap from anybody. In short: she gets things done.

Despite her natural stubbornness and tendency to talk over people when carried away, she is not unwilling to listen. Kate naturally takes charge while still valuing other peoples' opinions, and will change her plans accordingly if they can convince her to change her mind. It can be difficult to convince her though - she can be spiteful and, if sufficiently provoked, hold a grudge. Despite that, she's a sympathetic ear to her friends' problems and gives great advice though she never coddles or shies away from asking tough questions. Her sense of humor is silly; she loves making up nicknames and her banter borders on the cheesy.

While in combat and life Kate usually knows what she wants, she can have a difficult time with interpersonal relationships and is sometimes uncomfortable with herself in social situations. She's pulled between her attraction to Eli and Tommy, while refusing to admit to either because both matches would be messy. She's good at lying to herself and denying what she really wants for either the greater good or what she regards as sensible. Her emotional vulnerability is something she hides very well but it is there.

History: At Marvel Wikia.

Strengths: Kate is a born leader. Her willpower, forcefulness, intelligence, caring, and organizational skills make her an excellent candidate for leadership, which is why she and Eli Bradley are currently trading off co-leading duties for the Young Avengers. Of course, when it comes to being a leader, fabulous amounts of wealth don't hurt. Though Kate is very careful not to come across as snobby, she comes from a very privileged background and moves well in society circles.

Physically Kate is in peak condition: she is a fencer, an archer, a boxer, and in canon has shown some proficiency with martial arts though what branch and how proficient has yet to be defined. She also plays the cello.

Weaknesses: Despite the fact that she can kick seven different kinds of ass, she is only human and her abilities can pale next to those of her teammates. She also has a tendency to leap before she looks and overestimate her own abilities, which can be used against her.

After she was assaulted, she hates being touched from behind or snuck up on. She doesn't really know what she wants in terms of personal relationships and still can't really choose between Tommy and Eli; she wants to have both, for different reasons, and sends horribly mixed signals to both. This is an extension of the fact that, while she empathetic and gives good advice, she just doesn't know herself that well on an emotional level.

Preferred drop-in point: New York.

What are some of your plans for this character in their new environment? Essentially, shaking Kate out of her comfort zone. While her life does that a good deal she's more or less gotten comfortable with the weirdness, and we just can't have that. The loss and change of her "family" and support system is going to be something she has to deal with in a big way, as is the loss of her father's fortune to finance her superheroism.
