[Jack kept himself relatively busy today. He knows with spring high in the air, there's cleaning to do...and flooding. It's got him nervous, certainly. Even in HQ, he still has some kind of paranoia, so he re-caulked his bathroom just in case. It's been a big job, especially what with checking for cracks and whatnot in his room, and going so far as

No gifts. That'd seem insincere and seems like you're trying to to suck up to them. He didn't want to give off that appearance, not to mention he'd likely over do it and carry some weight on his chest. It was a miracle on some level that he was able to function the way he did without any outward pain to those unobservant. (Even if his movements were most definitely strained.)
He peered into the room, actually genuinely curious. He wasn't worried, he just wanted to apologize and be sincere as possible then never talk to him again since ... The blood began pumping. Don't think that way. Don't. ]

Yes, he's surprised Gabe even came around. Of that, there's no doubt. Things have been so especially rocky between them that he had all but given up hope that they'd approach each other again.
But now seems like a time that is neither okay nor wrong. In fact, he's not sure what to make of this, so he remains silent and wary.]

Gabe really wanted to do this to get this out of the way for good, cut off ties until ... he fixed everything. Wisconsin needed to fix things, on his own without being a hassle to anyone. No asking for funding and help those who needed it. He wanted to apologize, for everything. But now he just realized he had too much pride to do so.
There was something stirring as his head began to scratch on the inside, clawing away as he continued to stare at Jack. It wasn't unbearable anymore, but it was now a constant when he talked to others, he accepted it as a part of daily life.
Gabe begun to rub his forehead, to distract himself. Himself. Yes. As in Gabe. ]

He honestly doesn't mean to be so biting in tone, but he's irritated at what he's found and what he's realized.]
What're you standing there for?

Jack? 're ya alrigh'?

His response is weak, and he doesn't bother trying to smile or put on the facade that all is well. Sometimes, it's too much effort to try that.]
Hey, Will. I'm... I've been better.

[There's a prolonged pause before he shakes his head, his lips tight and his eyes staring blankly up at the ceiling.]
Can I ask ya a question?

ooc: I'm actually doing a ton of research on experiments like this that took place all over the country. Georgia had the last, and largest asylum in the country. Was going to make a post about it as soon as I thought up how to do so.

Ahh, could be better.
[ooc: I read about it for a sociology project I did last semester. I've always found things like it interesting. :B]

ooc: ME TOO!!! I'm planning to go visit that asylum this weekend. Hopefully.

[He closes his eyes and sighs, unsure of exactly how to respond.]
Just kinda got reminded of somethin' bad I did a long time ago.

But then she stops her happy sunshiny-ness to peer at her father, completely forgetting what she had come to ask him. ) Daddy, what's wrong?

[He hands her the crushed piece of paper, then resumes staring at the ceiling.]

[He bites his bottom lip. This is definitely one of those 'we don't talk about this' subjects in his family.]
--I actually remember doin' it.
