[It might seem like a perfectly normal sight. Jack in a winter coat walking Mitch along a path in a snow-filled park. The dog barking at everything that resembles a squirrel. Jack stopping to sit down on a bench for a moment, working on tying a loose lace on his boot. Well, that's as far as the normal gets, because hanging from his other wrist is a

Compared to the farm, this is pretty decent.

[Suddenly, Jack jerks to the left, forgetting for a moment that Mitch's leash is still tied around his wrist, and once again, Mitch is targeting squirrels. It's a bit funny to see him sideways, you know. He yanks on the leash once, bringing the Shepherd closer as said dog looks only slightly ashamed.]
Damnit, dog. What are ya gonna do with one if ya actually catch it? Ya don't know, do ya?

He's wearing his usual light but well insulated jacket, warm gloves, the scarf, boots. Out from his daze, he notices the little parade of animals, instantly acknowledging who's animals they are he looks to the bench. His face is half covered by his scarf, noticing that Jack is there. It's not exactly the most 'disturbing' thing he has seen but he's wondering if the ferret could stand this kind of weather. He won't ask too much.
It's been almost a year since that incident, since the guilt took hold, and since even the sight of Jack made him wanted to turn around running in the opposite direction.
Gabe was going to test it. Let's see how long it would take for him to want to run away from this situation again and he wanted to see if at least - he could go ( ... )

Jack decides to test it as well, again. The closer this gets to cleared up, the more relieved he'll be.]
Hey there, Gabe. Looks like ya had the same idea as me, huh?

[ There is some guilt there still, perhaps it's not a good idea to toss seed when there are animals around that could go after the birds he was thinking of attracting. Still he wants to get this over with, but how he smiles it is just... ]
It seems ya are relaxin' with this weather, huh?

Oh, yeah. Which, y'know, is kinda weird considering usually I hate when it gets cold. But it doesn't seem too bad today. Really, Mitch was just itchin' to get outside. An' Maddie...
[The ferret might just speak for herself when she goes careening down a snow drift, then jumps off and flies into a very pink-and-white blur of a weasel war dance. Someone likes the snow more than her owner, for sure.]

Hey how's it going!

And Jack himself? Well, he's happy, but not about getting his wrist close to dislocated by an overexcited dog.]
Pretty good! How about you?

[ He reaches down to pet Mitch. He should really take his dog Gus to meet his dad again sometime... ]
Almost time to get out and ice fish! ya know? I'm a little excited about that. I've been cooped up too much lately.

[He frowns as he says this, in stark comparison to the dog who is far too delighted seeing someone familiar.]
Though, it's kinda weird, since I've never been ice fishing before. Serious.

[bundled up in her rabbit shawl, she'll be grinning her head off, a certain wolf hybrid sitting at her side as she comes to a stop. just in case, though, she'll have a finger linked in her collar. mainly because, well, it'd be very unfortunate if she went after his ferret.]
Enjoying the snow while you can?

Ya could say that. More like these two got me out here. That's a pretty dog, by the way.

[the other dog regards his with a sort of superior aloofness for a while of five seconds before she's bolting off into the snow - as if trying to prove that her wolf half will make this snow inconsequential. spoiler: it doesn't.]
Thanks. She's a husky-wolf hybrid. This is her kind of weather, so even if I'd like to sit inside and hide from the weather, she really doesn't allow me.

[Luckily, Mitch didn't catch that, instead straining to run with the other dog. Maddie would try, but legs that aren't even an inch long don't really help.]
