I don't know if it's the styles that have come as of late... those trends you see in graphic design on sites like threadless.com or on people's myspace pages. Those cutesy interpretations of our everyday world seem more like the acid-eater's escape from the issues that really need to be attacked.
I don't think you need to put yourself on the sidelines. Gandhi said it best, "Be the change you want to see in the world." If you want this to happen, goddammit, grab arms with your fellow artist and we'll hit the world with something .
We won't know what will go in the textbooks in the next decade about our "movement", our generation's signature sweep through the halls of art history; but that's not what is important. It's not what people will say about our work in ages to come that matters; it's what we do with our work while we're there create it.
As a sidenote, however, I believe the western world needs a total shift in the paradigm. We are not products of our own environment; we ARE ( ... )
