Fasting

As I told you, I have been doing a lot of reading based on the Metaphysical discussion group I have joined. This has been very good for me overall, and is focusing a desire to sort all this out in my head. What I really want now is a change of personal habits at a really basic integral level. I find fasting to be an incredibly powerful tool. It is something I used to do monthly, and during Lent and other special days, I had my own special routine for fasting.

I dont want to say I 'enjoy' fasting, because that doesnt quite sum it up. I enjoy the heightened awareness I experience during fasts. I am more conscious of my thoughts and more aware of my normally involuntary actions.

I haven't fasted since before I was pregnant, but your post has inspired me to choose a day and fast and pray, and enjoy the benefits that come with those things.

Take care!

I accidentally fast on a semi-regular basis. Like yesterday, for example.

I needed to finish up the kidlet's Halloween costume, so that's what I did. I didn't intentionally fast but I had a doughnut at 10am (about 2 hrs. later than usual) and then a handful of trail mix in the mid afternoon and a plum just before supper.

I get so focused on what I'm doing I forget to eat. Eating becomes a non-issue, usually only rearing it's head once I've got a headache and am about to pass out.

Having been raised Catholic, I actually don't have an aversion to fasting. I think it can be a good thing mentally, physically, and spiritually.

I also have a delicate stomach and health issues which pretty much have me skipping meals fairly regularly (not gonna eat if I've got one of my bad headaches), so I tend to eat a lot less that lots of people.

The only times I have ever forgotten to eat were during EXTREME grief or depression. There is no project that can hush up the rumblings of my stomach.
