FIRST OFF I bought these for about 50 bucks which is more than I wanted to pay for them but now I am realising that that was quite possibly under priced because these things are in fucking amazing condition and are from Journal des Dames et des Modes I mean SERIOUSLY.

SOOO.

Thiiiis one is from 1829, and it features a man, a woman, crazy crazy hats and a person who seems to have recently come into contact with a guillotine a representation of a hairstyle. I LIKE THIS ONE A LOT.

THOSE HATS. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW YOU COULD FEASIBLY WEAR ONE OF THOSE omfg.

AND THE CAPE OVERCOAT THING. ALSO JEHAN TOTALLY OWNS THAT WAISTCOAT. Apparently ridiculously tight pants went in and out of fashion during 1829 a lot? Uhm.

There was no text on this one, but the page is full (YAY) so I can assume there was none to begin with.

AND NOW FOR THE REALLY AWESOME ONE

1835, huntingwear, there is text but it is hard to read I WILL do a translation once I figure it out.

ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT I THINK IT IS INCREDIBLY AMUSING HOW THEY TOTALLY COPIED WOMEN'S DRESS STYLES FOR FROCK HUNTING COATS

ETA: Photobucket is being stupid so no closeups for now.

And I discovered a book on eBay today that seems similar to The Lady's Stratagem... except for men and from 1834. I am going to save money and buy that instead of buying the clothes I was going to buy because... SERIOUSLY I don't think I even have to explain this?

research, fashion plates, sleep-deprived posts, what the hell scanner, 1830s, 1820s, ebay, poofy sleeves, historical things, fashion 1829, fashion 1835
