I work in an alzheimers care facility. Basically it is a nursing home specifically for alzheimers patients to live out their last days in.
Gets sort of long... )

just curious why you didn't call for help sooner? aren't you taught to get help ASAP with an adult arrest? i've done one person CPR and it's exhausting, and i only had to do it en route to the hospital. and, that's truely remarkable that somone down for that long would actually survive. and only with 2 "hairline" fractures.

not knowing how long he had been like that I wanted to start asap. I didn't want to leave his side once I started,he kept coming back and then crashing again. I never realized just how exhausting it really is until that night. I have a much more profound respect or those that have to do it on a regular basis.

Sounds like they're in denial about the basic FACTS of his condition. He IS going to die and if he's deteriorated as much as you've indicated it would be KINDER to let him go.

If my family ever did that sort of thing to me I'd be haunting their ass in angry retribution for the next ten years after I croaked.

Wow.

I understand why you wish you hadn't found him; I personally think he'd be better off dead. I think you did the right thing though.
