My favorite drink is a double espresso with a large shot of vanilla--I've just had to avoid caffiene to manage bipolar, so I can't do it as much. It's based on a Cup A Joe drink, actually! The Iced Vanilla Trainwreck (which was 4/2 instead of 2/1). Because of the non-latte-ness of it it's pretty cheap.
How do you recommend making it? I don't have any coffee-making-equipment, so should I brew it like tea? Simmer it like Turkish coffee (which is what I did)? It was pretty intense unsweetened. (also I added something close to the amount of liquid in sugar, it was ridiculous. Good, but ridiculous.)
I don't know how much you go in for some of the more "instant" drinks, but there's a wonderful powdered coffee alternative drink out there called Cafix. It's mostly chicory and barley, and the combination is quite delicious. It's just a powder that you add hot water to, so it's pretty easy to make. In spite of the instant-ness of it, I really love it. I think the barley adds just a little bit of sweetness to the chicory so you don't have to use as much sugar. Not exactly the question you were asking, but your post made me think of it.
