1. trying to be joking and humorous about something when everyone else is being all gloomy serious business
2. trying to be serious and sympathetic about something when everyone else is being a goofy prancing jackass

it's so hard to fit in with peer pressure on the internet

Just have two aliases. Or three or four. That's what I do. Suddenly, I don't have an identity and I can't feel 'afraid' if I look like an asshole under just one name.
